you might need some help
Self Righteous:
adj.
confident of one's own righteousness,...
Rave: shopping in NYC. I bought my first pair of Doc Martens. Now I'm breaking them in....
You think that New Orleans doesn't have a sizeable homeless population? I suggest you do...
Idiots? Is that what the kids call sensible people these days?
Rant: Apartment hunting in this city is akin to Chinese water torture.
Rant: I've...
Hopefully someone will buy the place and restore the front to what must have been a beatiful building at one time
Yes, somebody PLEASE buy this. Riggs Park could certainly use some more upscale dining options right about Now.
what is for sale? the building plus the business? or just the business?
I would love to have a decent, comfortable restaurant/pub on Kennedy street. I feel like there would be a decent market from the surrounding neighborhoods. I had hopes for one on 5th and Kennedy, but for some reason, they bricked over the entire front, leaving the bar windowless.
Oh yeah, the scary place with the “restuarant” sign. So disappointing.
Chiming in with the “please please please someone buy this and give us somewhere to go on KDY.”
I heard from a neighbor that the Domku owner is looking at opening a restaurant at the corner of 14th/Kennedy/Colorado, where the run down corner store is now (a few doors down from the former Colorado Kitchen space). I recommend emailing them if that’s something you’d support (domku@domkucafe.com). There are a ton of people in our neighborhood with money to spend. Highlands has done well, but it would be great to have another place within walking distance!
1.3mil… I have a hard time seeing how that is supposed to work.
Hope it does though! Would love to see Kennedy keep developing with higher end options.
1.3 million??? Haha…Bulldoze it and put in a Johnny Rockets.
Thanks.
Oh, please please please somebody buy this and make it a fun and interesting place! I live around here and would kill for a nice sit down cafe or dinner spot. Though I am still mad that whoever owns it now got rid of the awesome old signs on the building that you see in these photos. That “Pulse of the Nation’s Capitol” one made me happy every time I saw it.
Still waiting for Kennedy Street to become the new H Street NE. We are dying for mussels and burlesque.
Yes, Kennedy St. needs a restaurant/bar that’s a destination for people in the area. Those early investors in H St. NE helped turn around that whole commercial corridor. I hope Kennedy St. can attract someone who’s experienced and willing to take a calculated risk.
Those signs are amazing!
Y’know, the mortgage is only about $4700 a month is you put down $300K.
If nobody has the guts to plunk down $300K on Kennedy street maybe a bunch of neighbors could get together, buy it, and rent to a decent restauranteur.
Just an idea. Probably wouldn’t work but maybe you gotta dream big up there on Kennedy.
Some older ladies at my church remember dressing up to go there and talked about it like it was the place-to-be. lol. But they couldn’t remember which decade that was. Best of luck, I wouldn’t change the name.
