  • Along with “gift” and “pork,” “architect” is not a verb.

  • The master bath is definitely Porn worthy. The wine cellar is amazing as are the strategicly placed wet bars throughout the house.

  • That master bath looks larger than my studio apartment. And it has more windows.

  • I love this house!

  • Nice place, good deal if you’re in the market for a house of this caliber.

    • Agreed, I was thinking it was at least worth $3m in a bad market being made of all brick. Probably could use a pool or a back yard pond. Seller must be motivated.

      • how about just a back yard!!!! For no out door space it seems like an awful lot of money. I admit the house fits the price, the lot just doesn’t. If I am spending that kind of money I want a little more outdoor decor than I have in my condo in columbia heights…

  • that master bath is definitely bigger than my first DC apartment.

  • Great deal, actually. You can pay that for a mediocre McLean McMansion

    • But at least then you’d be in a decent public school system (not that McMansion owners send their kids to public schools, but that’s besides the point).

  • This house is amazing. The “family room,” wine cellar, wet bars with wine chillers, and master bath are incredible.

  • yes, please. really like this place and i like the more modern/contemporary look. it’s so light and bright!

  • Nice house. What’s the frosted glass enclosure in the bathroom for?

  • For that price it’d be nice to have a bit more outdoor space, but all around nice house

  • I know open floor plans are the thing to have, but I think it detracts from historic houses like this one. It’s definitely a house that has a sense of formality about it – I guess if you can spend that much money and want an open floor plan why not find something built specifically for that type of living? Otherwise, those closets and bathrooms are to die for – hope they have in-floor heat. That would be the best!

  • I too think the first floor needs some walls. I don’t like the floor color. And jeez, was there a sale on marble tile or something? This is how NOT to do marble tile. maybe that’s the difference between “designed” and “architected.”

Master bath is huge, but weird. why is one shower enclosure frosted and the other not? It can’t be a steam shower – what is behind that frosted glass? and who wants a toilet and bidet with wrap around windows?

    The basement is nice.

  • I love the house, but I wish it had some of the original grandness in tact. It looks like the inside of any of a number of tastefully done houses.

I dont feel like the potential of this house was anywhere close to fully realized. I like the wine cellar and I like some of the finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, but those can be put in any house.

This house deserves to have a grand inside to match the outside, and it just doesnt.

For 2.8 Mil you can and should get a much more unique and beautiful house.

  • I think this house is severely lacking in inspiration. Yucko open floor plan on the first floor, blah on the kitchen, and how the hell do you get into that bathtub without slipping and breaking a bone? Mostly it screams “I’m a big, expensive house that has no soul.”

  • Beautiful renovation. I wish I could afford it!

  • Amazing — when I walked past this house about 8 months ago, It was a burned out shell all the way through to the back – looked like a serious house fire that they were just starting to fix up. The roof was open and uncovered, all the windows were blown out.

That’s probably why it sold for $1.1M last year and is now on the market for almost $3MM. Looks like a seriously motivated renovator.

  • I live close by and walk by this house on the way to work. It looks like a whole different place! It was a mess before. I wish I could afford it…it’s an amazing place! The street looks so much better…now if the other neighbors could take note and do some updating. Overall, great buy!
