  • Those pipes running through the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom would be a deal-breaker for me!

Oh yeah, it’s a good deal. A 1 bedroom in cleveland park for $221,000? It will be sold within the next 24 hours. After a bidding war, I bet the final price will be $235,000 or more.

  • I didn’t know cats could get mortgages.

I wish it had an in-unit Washer/Dryer, but otherwise I’d say good deal. It’s basically a basement, so I think the price fairly reflects that.

  • Anony

    Meh.

It’s a one bedroom in a neighorhood filled with families. If I were single, I’d be looking to live where other single people are.

Also, it’s a ground floor unit and no parking. Perhaps the only street in Cleveland Park where it is hard to park is Porter.

  • The pipes and the basement location are certainly drawbacks, but for a 1-bedroom in Cleveland Park, this sounds like a very good deal.

It would be good for someone who doesn’t want to mess with a “transitional” neighborhood and who doesn’t have a car or any desire to get one (as it’s two blocks from Metro).

you could always rent it to a howard law student. their school is a few blocks north on conn (one stop on the red line). ditto for a udc student, although they probably have less money than a hu law student.

i think its a fair price for what it is – a ‘basement’ apartment in a really nice area. Bathroom looks well done, and kitchen, though tiny, also looks updated.

this should have been called “the exposed water pipe edition”

over 200k? this is a joke right?

  • maestrobe

Just FYI (not a commentary on whether this unit is a good deal, so please don’t pillory me):

    I have a friend who sold a non-basement 2 BR in this building for $70K . . . in 1998.

at under $1300 including taxes, utilities, condo fees, etc. (with a $20k down payment), I think it’s a good deal, especially for someone with enough income to benefit from the tax credits that come with owning. You’d pay more to rent it, and it would be easy to rent out when the time came that you didn’t want to live there anymore.

I say good deal to a single person (or couple not planning to get a dog or have kids) with $20k in the bank who wants a “nice” neighborhood and is ok with living in the basement for a few years to save money.
