Don’t care for the area, but I actually like the exterior and the interior is fine, for a new build.

reasonably-priced detached single family new homes in the district are relatively rare, if that’s what you’re in the market for…

  • kelly5612

Pretty. Classy. Too many kitchen photos (I get it: dark wood and stainless). What’s a 3-sided fireplace, and where is it?

    • From the photos, it looks like it must be the fireplace that protrudes ever so slightly from the wall.

Note that all the photos are not from the actual property, but a “similar property” where the construction is already completed.

  • This strikes me as overpriced vis-à-vis houses further south in Petworth, but I don’t know what the comps are for the area, so maybe it isn’t. Newly constructed houses in the District are a rarity, as J notes — there aren’t a lot of newly built rowhouses, let alone detached houses.

On an unrelated note, I wish the fad for excessive gabling on newly built houses would end.

The master bath photo of the tub… why on EARTH would you put the faucet there? Or, to phrase it properly: why would you buy a pre-cut tub with the faucet location where it is, when you plan on installing it where you did.

    Builder fail.

    • Ha! + 100. I kinda see that being useful for someone who’s washing their dog (or their kids!) and will not be getting into the tub. All the same, they could have put them flush against the shower wall.

Every single photo is from a “similar property!?” So that means this developer has another home where the interior is absolutely identical? If not, please don’t waste my time with “similar” property photos.

The above photo of the outside is not to my liking – it’s as if they couldn’t decide which exterior look to go with, so they grey painted brick, grey siding, and then beige/khaki siding. The window finishes don’t match or really go with each other.

    • Very possibly they have something highly similar. And while it may not show the actual rooms, at a minimum it gives a sense of the style/quality. At least one hopes.

      • classic_six

I know what you mean but when they can’t deliver even 1 photo of the actual place then this is too premature, in my opinion.

  • No idea if it’s a good deal, but what’s with builders’ insistence on multiple types of siding. Stoneface, clapboard, and shingles all within a narrow street face? Too much.

  • Kiki

I love all the drama of the design — something missing from most new construction — but NEVER put a wine rack next to the oven.

Yes, I own how petty I am.

  • Anon3

Meh. Not my cup of tea. If I wanted to buy a house like this I would go to the burbs, not Petworth. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes for asking price or a little under.

  • CoHi

I wonder where the flipper cut corners

    • ET

And since it is new construction you can pretty much guarantee there were a few cut corners.

      • Anonymous

If it is new construction, how can it be a flip?

A lot of these new houses are from a standard design, so there might be finish or quality concerns, but the house is assembled on a standard process using the same layout and components. Looks nice, but I would nitpick about the front walk, which is typically wider in a city than they installed.

  • This house is preposterously over-priced.

  • Anonymous

I live around the corner front his house, and it is not even built yet. The wood is up, but it looks NOTHING like that! It is bare bones with no windows or doors.
