From what I could tell, the Georgetown branch was the only place where non-citizen residents can do any work on their ID. This is going to create mass confusion.

I am glad I renewed my D.C. Drivers License at the Georgetown DMV location 2 weeks ago on May 5th. DMV want everyone to renew everything online. However, most people don’t have computers and D.C. Government website doesn’t work well. I prefer to renew my Drivers License in person because I don’t want to have the same photo from 5 years ago. Now, the new D.C. License last for 8 years.

With the location closing, I expect customer service at the Georgetown branch to increase significantly. (zing!)

The Georgetown location isn’t closing for two weeks, it’s closing indefinitely. However, the temporary location won’t be up and running for two weeks.

The title is a little misleading.

Are the quotes around “skip the in-person” trip to acknowledge that you are going to have to actually go in person anyway because the DMV website is so crappy?

“Therefore, customers are encouraged to “skip the in-person” trip and conduct their transactions online at dmv.dc.gov.”
