Early last week I mentioned that Tackle Box would not likely reopen after the Bandolero run in Cleveland Park. Thanks to everyone who shared the Tom Sietsema tweet:
“Owner of @Florianadc tells me he’s taking over @tackleboxdc site in Cleveland Park May 7 & turning it into Pulpo, (Octopus) a tapas bar.”
Floriana is located at 1602 17 St. NW. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Really now – well, let’s see: there’s +1 for novelty (Octoupus tapas) and -1 for lack of novelty (another tapas place). I guess that makes me neutral on this one. Heh
What are tapas? (kidding)
It’s Tentacleriffic!
I like the title. Like the tapas thing is new or something. God I hate Tapas. I’d rather have a Dunkin Donuts than a tapas place.
Tapas places are the worst. You get usually get stuck with a huge bill and leave hungry.
Sometimes they get sneaky and try to call them “little plates” – don’t be fooled. ha ha ha
Another f’ing tapas restaurant. Come ON!
Ugh, we need a tapas moratorium in DC. Tapas in this town is just a way of giving you less food than you want, for more money than you want to spend.
+1.
Good riddance to Tacklebox. Such a disappointment.
Whenever I hear about a restaurant that serves octopus, I think about that scene from Oldboy.
I liked that Tackle Box was an affordable dining-out option in CP – and wasn’t Chipotle, California Tortilla, or even CP Bar & Grill.
Can we put a fork in tapas and say “it’s done.”
Actually, tapas is so DONE it needs a prison SHANK! Enough already! We’re STILL hungry!
The food at Tackle Box was so bad that it made me yearn for the 10 or so previous years when the building was empty and a homeless man lived in the niche in front of the door.
Im so glad people are starting to understand the whole small plate/tapas scam. You pay twice as much for twice as little. I have stopped going to any place that only does tapas, total waste of money
I misread this as “taco bar” and got really excited. Then I realized it’s another tapas joint….sigh.
Oh my goodness – I would be really excited for a taco bar…
Clearly in the minority, but I freaking love tapas. And you don’t pay double unless you truly are an idiot. You could pay $25 for a single entree or pay roughly $32 for 4 different items.
