Yeah, I’m not sure if they are just posturing but the intel is directly from the owner, which they also repeat on their facebook page:

I don’t think your intel is correct. DC Noodles and those other restaurants will close when the construction behind them and whatever pay-off is necessary come together. I love DC noodles like many in the neighborhood (was there just last night), and when asked when they will close, I am told, “when the hole is dug in the back.” Yes, they have a long lease to protect them, but it seems to me they are just waiting it out until the $ offered will make it reasonable for them to close temporarily. Seems smart enough.

I hope I am wrong, but it seems like a matter of time before they yield to the Louis.

Their falafel sandwiches are acceptable, although hardly on par with what one can get at Amsterdam Falafel Shop or what was available at the now-shuttered Maoz. But I’ve had them several times when I wanted something veggie in a hurry and did not want to shlep more than two blocks from my house.

Glad to hear about DC Noodles, that place can cure the common cold I am convinced! So 24-7 is decent? I’m sorry but I never bothered to try it since it looked kind of dumpy and I associated the name with 7-11.

I’ve been working on my DC Noodles loyalty card for years. I’m SO CLOSE to a free noodle bowl. They cannot shut their doors until I achieve this milestone.

PS 24/7 aka Mediterranean is a great long-time business in the U Street corridor. I hope they prosper in their new location.

Anyone know why U-Topia needed to close but the others can stay open? Looks like 24/7 was looking for a bigger space to expand their menu, so this worked out anyway.
