I am pumped! Wonder how swamped they’ll be tonight… might try to head over there…

  • “We are going to serve only beer and wine for this weekend.”

… and food, presumably. It seems food is an afterthought. It’s sad that the only way to make money in DC is by selling alcohol and selling food that makes you want to drink more alcohol.

    • Let me assure you, Shaw’s Tavern does not consider food to be an afterthought. They wouldn’t have gotten so popular without an alcohol license if they were serving sub par food.

      • I coudn’t disagree with you more, Shaw’s Tavern has some of the most mediocre food in the District. The only way they’ll continue to stay in business is because of that liquor license. People have just come to accept less in DC. After eating brunch there a few weeks ago (a lukewarm soggy waffle and a side of cold overcooked bacon) I walked out wishing I went to IHOP.
The sad thing is they used to be 10x better when they were under different ownership.

  • Happy Happy, Joy Joy!!!

  • Did they get a permit for their cornice in their ABRA package?

Cool, I might head over tonight for a beer.

I did get the chance to stop in for a couple of beers. I was there about 10pm, apparently dinner was just wrapping up. I sat outside- it was pretty crowded, but I did not have to wait to get a table.

Beer selection is good, about 7-8 drafts, including a couple of DC Brau brews.
