2120 P St, NW
Yesterday afternoon I mentioned that Vento Restaurant had closed at 2120 P St, NW in Dupont. I got some very reliable scuttlebutt saying that it is going to become a Tex-Mex restaurant. I hear one of the new owners is from the popular Scion restaurant located next door. You can see Scion’s menu here. Sounds very promising. I hear they are shooting to open by mid-summer. More info as it becomes available.
Do you think Tex-Mex will do well in this space?

Wow. That's horrible. I cannot believe the audacity of some people. Did she not thin you...
thanks for writing citykids! great addition!
I live a block away from that corner too... and it's the one area I try to avoid passing...
Rant: a friend of mine cancelled on our plans to go to a play this afternoon because she...
you do live in a transitional neighborhood. news like this is rough, but it shouldn't be...
I live in this neighborhood and am not at all surprised Vento is closing. I never saw it full—ever.
I’m not a huge tex-mex fan but if they make a good fish taco and margarita I think it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The food just needs to be good!
If it’s like Guapo’s or Cactus Cantina, then yes. If it tries to “redefine” or “update” Tex-Mex or copy Chipotle then no. Oh, and ABSOLUTELY NO VALET PARKING! We had enough BS with Vento about that.
Tex-Mex…as someone who has lived in New Mexico and Arizona…I can say I am not a fan. There’s no authenticity…it’s Chi-Chi’s, Tortilla Coast, or a Don Pablo’s. I’d kill for some decent Sonoran/New Mexican food downtown.
Isn’t this the old Mimi’s space? Bring back the singing waiters!
You know, I would love to get a New Mexico style or a California style Mexican place. I would eat in either of those quite regularly.
