Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool with your pets name and neighborhood. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

“This photo is of my puppy, Tilly (of Petworth) enjoying the Cherry Blossom Festival. She often goes by the nickname “Princess of Petworth”.

“Newly one-eyed Max. And 3 seconds later, he tipped over.”

“This is Duke, a Great Dane from SE Capitol Hill. His favorite hobbies are terrorizing his little brother Jack, chewing on door frames and getting a ton of attention from anyone who’ll give it to him.”

  • As a non-cat owner, I have to ask – what’s up with all the one-eyed cats? There have been several on here recently. Do they lose them in fights? Infections?

    Anyway, all three are cuties!

Where can I find Tilly and take advantage of those free hugs she’s advertising on her leash? 🙂

  • POP-
please include a warning for those of us who don’t like the sight of blood!

Wishing Max a speedy recovery. My one-eyed cat does just fine getting around. For anonymous-it can be either fights or infections, mine was adopted like that but I assume it was an infection.

    • There is no blood.

My Rotty had a benign tumor inside her eyeball that caused her to have her eye removed. She did great afterward!

My kitty got attacked by dogs (10 years ago) and has a partially paralyzed eyelid now, but luckily her eye was not damaged.

She also fell over a lot when she came home from the vet all drugged up.

    • My childhood dog lost an eye because we were too stupid to realize that one of her teeth went bad. It affected her cheek, which eventually starting affecting the eye. I’m so sorry, Lucy!

      • My childhood dog, a beagle named Buster, had an eye removed also due to a tumor. He lived to be 15 and we gave him the nickname, Buster the One-Eyed Wonder and would say he was winking when people asked what was wrong with him! 😉 Good luck to Max!

  • What’s the back story with Max the one-eyed three legged cat?? Was it rescued from the streets??

  • Love Duke – Danes are such gentle giants.

  • What happened to Max?!

Duke, I’ve seen you around the Hill. And I love you.

  • Duke is so cute in that picture (and probably in real life too)! My pup pulls his ears back and down just like that when he is in “I want attention” mode.

  • Poor Max!! Is he okay, I hope? Worry about mine getting in fights all the time – and losing an eye in the battle. Wishing that’s not what happened to Max, so he won’t be traumatized…

I wanna snuggle Duke! Such a cutie!

  • How is Max doing? I remember you were worried about the surgery, I hope he’s recuperating well!

  • OK, so the day is over….are we really not going to get to hear what happened to Max????

  • Max damaged the eye a few months ago. Not sure how, because I wasn’t home at the time. The damage started causing glaucoma, so he had to have it removed. He’s feeling really great now- relieved to not be in pain I think! And he’s four-legged, just doing a bit of a full tuck in the pic. 🙂

(no blood in the pic, btw- that’s just how he looks now!)
