  • Cool! I remember something like this in Charlottesville up Rugby Rd.

  • I wonder what happened to the roofs? Kind of defeats the purpose!

  • ah

Talk about tough to get in and out of.

  • I’ve never seen these, but they look really nice.

  • Maybe they were once horse stables? Could they be that old?

  • these creep me out for some reason.

  • Some company spent a few years assembling all of them from their former owners whose houses back up to these on the other side.

Then, they turned around in 2007 or 2008 and tried to sell them as-is for pretty astronomical prices…like 40K a piece, which was insane because as you can see half of them don’t have roofs, the ones that do are one severe snow storm from collapse, and the masonary walls are crumbling so you are taking a big chance parking there.

They ended up selling 2 or 3 of them to nearby condo owners who didn’t mind shelling out the reduced price of 30K a piece to have offstreet parking.

While offstreet parking is valuable in Cleveland Park, there are a lot cheaper and easier ways to do it other than owning a ramshackle insurance claim nightmare.
