You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks. I’ll open this thread every morning at 10am.

    A reader reminds us:

As today is the first Saturday in March, the Fort Totten Transfer Station at 4900 John F. McCormack Road, NE–not to be confused with the metro station by the same name–will be open from 8:00am until 3:00pm for household hazardous waste collection, EPA-approved e-cycling, and document shredding (limit 5 boxes of documents / resident.) Most electronics and chemicals are accepted, as well as dead batteries and compact fluorescent light bulbs, whole or broken (broken bulbs should be in a plastic ziplock bag.) Fort Totten Transfer station will not accept latex paint or old prescription medication, directions for disposal of which are on the website.

I always forget every month and then I curse myself for the rest of the month until the next Saturday rolls around, so readers might appreciate a heads up. I’m going to get rid of my old printer and a bunch of CFLs.
