Back in mid-Dec. 2011 we learned that the New Orleans PoBoy Shop was coming to Dupont Circle. Lots more details have become available from their new Website:
“We are conveniently located at 1205 19th St. NW, near DuPont Circle, in the business district area of Washington, D.C. and are with-in walking distance from 3 major D.C. Metro Stations. We will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possiblity of private events on nights and weekends.”
Lots more background info here (including an Emeril LaGasse connection) and you can see their menu here (though the font is pretty small.) Stay tuned for an April opening.

hesitantly excited about this place. Prices look reasonable, menu looks good (especially the specials)…just hoping he procures some good bread, as the wrong type of bread ruins a po boy.
THIS. If it isn’t on Leidenheimer’s bread, it isn’t a po boy.
I sure hope they get some good bread, I would love to be a regular.
Obviously a NOLA native ’cause you mention the bread and have the 504 reference.
(btw I agree with the bread thing – it makes/breaks it)
Not sure Dupont is convenient for anyone except those that live in Dupont.
I could easily put this place on my route home
Convenient for the 450 billion people* that work in Dupont/Downtown/West End/Farragut.
*Possible exaggeration
Another NOLA native here. I’d be thrilled if they had actual french bread. The fact that the roast beef sandwich says it has “debris gravy” makes me optimistic.
Menu at a readable size…

Thanks for that. I updated the site so the menu is readable now.
I hope this place is good. I wish there was a good po-boy shop in the city. Anyone have any recommendations?
Chipotle Mayo does NOT go on a freaking fried shrimp po-boy people! I need to get back to NOLA soon….
I like the po-boys at Johnny’s Half Shell, but they’re expensive (like everything else there).
The Argonaut used to have a good Po Boy, but it appears to be absent from their current menu. Maybe it’s a seasonal thing.
Am I the only one who considers 19th and M to be downtown and not Dupont? How big is Dupont Circle area? Seems at times to stretch from U St area all the way north toward AdMo and south past downtown and east to Logan.
I’m with you. 19th & M is halfway between Dupont and K St, but the feel is much more downtown than Dupont.
Here’s hoping the sandwiches are good because I’m not far from there.
Those are good prices. I don’t eat out much, but when I do, I’d check them out.
Holy cow, I would give up one of my children for a good catfish poboy.
You and me both! (Only I’d sell one of your kids for a good catfish or oyster poboy.)
That’s hardly a fair trade. You get to eat the po boy and then that’s that. Whoever made the po boy now has to raise your child.
Eh, the eldest is practically grown. She can raise herself by now.
Yeah you right.
How are they only staying open til 7 PM? Even if you’re at 19th and M, you gotta stay open until at least 9 or 10…
The hours are ridiculous. Where do they think they are, Nebraska? I hope they can make money on the beignets at 7 a.m., because they can forget about anyone who doesn’t want to fight through rush hour in the hopes of getting a po boy before 7 pm.
Trust me, they will be using leidenheimer’s bread and could possibly extend hours if the demand is there…its a brand new business and will work with the demographic accordingly. Relax. This place is gonna be top notch.
ditto on the bread. The shrimp better be good too! NOLA poboys make me do the Homer Simpson drool.
