633 Pennsylvania Ave, SE
@DiningBisnow tweeted some very interesting news last night:
“The very talented @mixtressdc is leaving @PS7sdc, but she tells us she’s got a new “cocktail deli” in the works at 6th and Penn SE”
I’m wondering if 6th and Penn Ave, SE is referring to the former location of Ba Bay which closed in Nov. ’11 at 633 Pennsylvania Ave, SE? Whether it’s that location or another nearby – I can’t wait to learn more about at “cocktail deli”.

I love that their sign is a section of laminate flooring with no writing on it. It really speaks to their ethos.
That is an old photo.
Well, they’re closed so presumably the new place that may or may not go there would have a different sign.
Thanks for the update– I’ve been wondering what would eventually move into the space. Now I’m wondering what a “cocktail deli”could posibly be.
this restaurant site seems to be cursed…like the place that was cursed in Adams Morgan on the corner of 18th and Columbia. Only thing that worked was to get a Starbucks in it, maybe they should try this at this locale.
Let’s hope it stays in operation…
There’s a Starbucks at 8th and Pennsylvania, another at 3rd and Pennsylvania and Pound a few doors down… so probably not.

The problem is that it’s haunted by a ghost who shuffles out of the kitchen, rattling chains, moaning and saying “Dooooooonnn’t eeeeeeeat heeeerrree!”
I can’t imagine a traditional cocktail that would go well with deli meat.
think of all the meats that Russians, Germans and Spaniards eat and then work backwards.
I once had a bloody mary in Wisconsin that had about a half pound of meat and cheese products on a large skewer. It was divine.
If she opens up a joint there it will be fabulous! Her work is legendary! And we need something really awesome to break the Indian Burial Ground curse this place has on it! Please Deity of My Choice let this be true!
I thought it said “Cocktail Diet” and was SO happy….
