Thanks to all who wrote in about the progress at the Rosa Mexicano located at 5225 Wisconsin Ave, NW, opening up Sat. at 5pm.

A press release says:
“The 150-seat restaurant includes spacious indoor, outdoor, and private dining seating. Blending traditional and modern elements of Mexican craft and architecture, the warm and vibrant decor features Rosa Mexicano’s signature hues of pinks and purples. Multi-dimensional art work complements rich fabrics and textures, as well as a floor-to-ceiling display of tequila bottles. Directly over the bar and extending into the dining lounge area, the ceiling glows with pink haze lighting that is set against an electric blue tiled cascading water wall, inspired by those at sister Rosa Mexicano locations. The enclosed patio area features a wall of vertical colored glass bands, creating a focal point from the street and exhibiting arrival for the Rosa Mexicano experience that awaits.”
Here’s a peek in the window:

in before some idiot complains about drink prices
Rave: This is the first Saturday I've been able to sleep in all month.
Rant: I slept...
Eeek - I live around the corner from the Eckington shooting. Scary stuff.
Booo to police cameras.
What happened to the street cameras that were supposed to be installed? With them we...
Yawn. I had much higher hopes for this space. Another average chain restaurant in Friendship Heights.
Spanish FAIL.
Can I get a little agreement between the genders of my nouns and my adjectives up in this bitch!?
Don’t sweat it, bro. You’ll get the hang of it. I take it Spanish is not your first language.
Ugh.
I went to this place a couple times when I lived in Penn Quarter during the early 00′s and there weren’t many other options nearby. It is the epitome of (most of) the DC restaurant scene – upscale branded chains serving mediocre food for way too much money. The guacamole appetizer is especially insulting, as they show you that the sum total of the ingredients costs less than $4 but they’re charging you $14, presumably because they make it tableside. And the signature pomegranate margarita? It’s out of a Slushie machine and costs something like $12.
Avoid unless being ripped off gives you great satisfaction.
Also, do a Google Search for “Rosa Mexicano Sucks Ventworm Nut” and click the first link to donrockwell(dot)com.
Ugh, the people on that site are nauseating.
overpriced and overated
GORGEOUS restaurant with impeccable service, DELIC food (guac is like crack, and is made in front of you) and desserts are obscene. Try the flan with espresso or banana chocolate cake…crazy good! Drinks are also tasty with a Mexican flair. Great place for friends, a date night, family or even solo. Upbeat and upscale vibe, lots of beautiful artwork, mosaics and a waterfall against the back wall. From ambiance, cuisine and service, I’d give it an 11 out of 10!
Definitely a fabulous new addition to Friendship Heights and DC area…Go and enjoy!!
Fantastic food and great drinks. Excited to have this new addition to the area.
