  • That’s a crazy amount, but Mt. Pleasant hasn’t been a bargain for a long time.

  • Seems reasonable to me. That’s a great neighborhood and close to transportation.

  • The photos are 2.5 years old (datestamped May 12, 2009). I’d be wondering what the place looks like now… it could be exactly the same, but what if there had been wear and tear from the previous tenants?

I see a window fan in one of the photos, so it looks like the house doesn’t have air conditioning.

The clawfoot tub is all very well and good… but what if you want to wash your hair? It doesn’t seem to be set up with a shower conversion-type thing. Moreover, I’m getting the impression that there is only one bathroom (or at least one full bathroom) for the whole house.

I don’t really know what the going rates are in Mount Pleasant, but I would think that one could get more for one’s money.

That seems steep – it’s probably a $700k house at best, and while mortgages and rents are often out of step that’s pretty far out of step.

    • Huh, if it is a $700k house even at a 5% (with a 10% down payment) the mortgage would still hover around $4k. Rent is for $3300. My opinion is that it is a pretty good deal.

  • 1 br basement apts in that area seem to be priced in the $1800 range, so I think $3300 for a 3br row house with off-street parking and outdoor space is more or less in line. That said, it ain’t cheap.

  • mt pleasant should be more affordable. REALLY. I have tried looking for a moderate monthly rental for 1 bedroom and cannot find anything, especially homes that accept dogs. many homes in Mt. P do NOT accept pets! what is wrong with this neighborhood?

  • What’s wrong with the neighborhood is that it’s become for only rich people. That’s the way most of DC is going and even up-and-coming neighborhoods are getting ridiculously priced rentals and house costs.
