    • 5 years or so, i think.
      this was a public art piece that was meant to block sight of the dumpsters in this alley.

  • The white building that the gate is attached to now houses a Wok and Roll restaurant, but during the Civil War it was Mary Surratt’s boardinghouse. It was at this house that John Wilkes Booth and his fellow consirators planned to kidnap/assassinate Abraham Lincoln. In both of the pictures above you can see the bronze plaque that states the role the building played in those events.
