“Centrally-located one bedroom apartment on the second floor in the safe, beautiful Mt Pleasant neighborhood of Washington DC, a seven minute walk from metro and steps to major bus lines. National Airport is just 15 minutes straight down the yellow line. Mt Pleasant is a quiet, safe, and picturesque DC neighborhood next to the National Zoo and Rock Creek Park; but just a ten minute walk away the next neighborhood is the exciting, loud Adams Morgan with the most bars and restaurants in DC.

The building is very neighborly–residents know one another, grill together or hit the bars, cats play together on the third floor, and there is a community herb garden (even if you don’t tend it, you are welcome to use the herbs). A grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants are a two minute walk away from the condo, and supermarkets, more restaurants, bars and The Raven (famous as the oldest bar in DC) are a five minute walk. There is a wonderful farmers’ market steps outside on Saturday mornings.

This 1 bed is going for $1500. While I actually think that’s a pretty good deal – I chose this listing for the really odd photos they used to accompany the listing. Not as awkward as this one (NSFW) but still…

I actually viewed this apt. last weekend. The living room shot/kitchen are accurate pictures. The bathroom is not the same bathroom as in the apt. The apt. is in a cool building, friendly neighbors but the place itself is TINY. The width of the living room is not much bigger than the pic.

  I disagree. I understand that it’s getting harder to find a good price on 1-bedrooms in the city, but $1500 PLUS utilities and parking, a 17-minute walk from the Metro (per Google) sounds completely unappealing. I know all of the “I rent a 5 bedroom next to the Metro for $600″ anecdotes are awful, but seriously, my friend moved into a one-bedroom with utilities and parking included, two blocks from Metro, for $1450, just two weeks ago! Better deals are out there, and they’re really not that hard to find if you keep looking over time. This certainly doesn’t look BAD, but I would never call it a good deal, and especially not an “insanely” good deal.

      Cleveland Park. I know it often gets maligned here, but it’s a great neighborhood and definitely a step above something like the guesses of Fort Totten or Silver Spring in many regards.

Nitpick: Columbia Heights to Reagan National, even if you catch the yellow line, is more like 22 minutes.
