From an email:

“It is hard for me to believe, but Saturday is already the LAST MARKET of 2011. Thank you for another fantastic market year. Together we have celebrated the asparagus season, the strawberries, the zucchini, the cherries, the tomatoes, the peaches and plums, the corn and eggplant, the grilled sausages and steaks, the return of pumpkin whoopie pies, the arrival of apples and pears and dried Honeycrisp apples and now it is time for Turkey or the non carnivorous equivalents, winter squash soups, roasted sweet potatoes and lots of delicious root vegetables and cold- sweetened greens.

Please like and keep checking the facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/14UFarmersMarket?ref=ts ) because I am posting good recipes and ideas for your Thanksgiving feasts every day.

We will have some FREE HOT CIDER at McCleaf to warm you up if it is cold.

Chef DEMO: WaPo Food Editor Joe Yonan will be cooking at market from 11-12.
Joe is a great cook and his new book, Serve Yourself: Nightly Adventures in Cooking for One has excellent recipes for dinners for one or two people. I tested 10 recipes for the book so Jeff and I swear to its deliciousness.

And please contribute an apple or a vegetable to our Martha’s Table basket so that they can make hearty, tasty soups for the 350 kids and the 1700 homeless, cold people they feed every single day.

Here is a SAMPLE of only some of the foods you will find at market to make your Thanksgiving the tastiest– and most local– ever. All the producers are bringing everything in their fields so the market will be overflowing with everything you want for your Thanksgiving table. It is easy to make a local Thanksgiving at the 14&U Farmers Markets… And if you are buying a LOT of apples or sweet potatoes or greens, ask about volume discounts…..yes!

Make your Thanksgiving a little easier and buy our homemade Desserts:

* Whisked!’s Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Chocolate Swirl Pie, Apple Pie, Pumpkin Cranberry Loaf, Pumpkin Coffee Cake

* Lois’ Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Whoopie Pie, Pumpkin Rolls, Pumpkin Bread, Pecan Pie at Pecan Meadow”
