Dear PoPville – Holiday Party Location and NYE Options?

Photo by PoPville flickr user AWard Tour

“Dear PoPville,

What’s a good location/activity for a smallish (20-25 people) office holiday party, preferably downtown? I’m hoping to find somewhere relatively inexpensive that we can spend a few hours in the afternoon eating, imbibing, and hopefully being distracted by some other kind of adult but office-appropriate activity. Alternatively, any ideas for spicing up an in-office holiday party if we can’t find a good location elsewhere?”

“Dear PoPville,

My friends and I have started the initial discussions about what to do NYE. We have scratched off any of those “all you can drink bar deals” and are looking into throwing a big party instead. The only problem is that none of us want to host it at our houses. Are there are decently priced venue rental options in the district that we could explore? We would love to be able to just rent the space and then bring in our own booze and food (i know, that is asking for a lot).”

Anyone have some early advice?
