“Last night (this morning) about 12:37 am, two men were shot in front of a convenience store in the 1200 block of Mt. Olivet St. NE, near the intersection of West Virginia Avenue.
One of the victims, an 18 year old, died of his wounds. The second victim survived.
This morning at about 10:25 am, a 22 year old man was shot and killed near an alley in the 700 block of 19th St., NE, just off Benning Road.
There is no other information available to the public at this time. Detectives are investigating both cases.
If there is anyone in the community who has any information on either incident we ask that you call 727-9099 and report it.”

It’s a testament to our Constitution and our Cultural Norms. People exercising their right to bear arms, in DC, every week. And seeming total tolerance of the notion that murder is a normal thing to expect, on the streets of DC. Almost murder as liberty, ones’ sacred right. Or perhaps liberty really means you have the right to possess bullets with intent. Whatever way, our glory as “Homicide Streets NE DC” sucks big time.

Not surprising. I go through this area all the time on the way home from H St and downtown. Lots of shady looking characters hanging out in front of all three of the convenience stores near that intersection. Probably a drug deal gone sour or something. They probably knew each other.
