Generally speaking, from my experience as both a hoofer, a motorist, and a biker,...
Nope - some turbo props have rear facing - or at least my obnoxious cousins does.
Who...
VA plate cars *are* allowed to park there. They're just not allowed to park there...
No.
Outrage should be spent on both the activities as both of them are illegal.
I suppose I just feel that it is common sense that pedestrians should be able to safely...
Anyone have any more details on these? I live at 11th & Otis and didn’t hear or notice anything. No sign of any police activity this morning. Does a shooting mean someone was actually hit or just that shots were fired?
I live Otis and 11th. I heard a single gun shot a few minutes before 2am. Weird that it wasn’t followed by more. You’re taking your life in your own hands if you walk down 11th between Monroe and Spring late night. Stay safe.
I’ve lived between spring and monroe on 11th for almost 4 years, with very few incidents. I’d like to hear more from the CH_res poster who claims that one is taking one’s life into their own hands walking here late night. On what do you base this claim? Other long term residents have told me this area is way better than in the past, and walking at night is ok now.
This one should be a snap for MPD… there weren’t many black males wearing dark clothing out on that street last night.
/snark
‘Shooting’ usually means someone was hit. Just ‘shots fired’ is usually reported as ‘sounds of gunfire’, for which there are many citywide almost every night. That said, we’re probably going to be getting fewer and fewer details on these incidents, since MPD now encrypts all their police radios, so media [and nosy neighbors] can’t really get details – the public now just gets the ‘official version’ only on incidents MPD wants to release.
But most details aren’t going to be learned from listening to the radio, right? Just the chatter about the initial incident. Listening to the radio wouldn’t tell you anything about the actual investigation. Or am I misunderstanding you?
I also live at 11th and Otis and there was a huge police presence last night around 2am. 6-7 cars, caution tape blocking off Otis and 11th. The police questioned me about what I heard, but it was only the lights that woke me up. Would love to get more information about this. Please keep us posted PoP.

Wonder if we could ever get our local authorities to try to implement this across state lines?
It was Homecoming at Howard U, too!
Lots of fun to be had at Howard U Homecoming…
Terrible trafic,no parking, and a few shootings and stabbings to go along with the nightmare.
soooo much fun.
i live right on 11th just up from otis, too, and didn’t hear anything. it looks like someone was out with spray paint in a big way on the 3400 block.
So sad I said it’s Howard homecoming, wonder how many people will be shot.
what are you talking about?

“wonder how many people will get shot this weekend”
“A university spokeswoman said no Howard students or personnel were involved in the shooting.”
