Shooting at 7th and O St, NW Sun. Night – Reader Props to the Cops

“Dear PoPville,

I was biking up 9th St, NW, this Sunday evening, just past the convention center, at about 10:10 or 10:15 PM, and as I passed the intersection with O St. I heard about 5-8 pops from shots being fired, with several rounds whizzing over my head. I could particularly hear the bullets hitting the leaves in the trees. Obviously, I did not stop; however, in the seconds when I first heard the shooting, I looked over and I saw a large dark SUV at the corner of 7th and O, although it may well have been parked there. Anyway, I biked on, ducked around the corner, and called 911, by which time police sirens were already wailing in my direction. It took a while to get through, so I’m assuming they must have been loaded with calls. The 911 dispatcher, after getting that I was fine, and hadn’t really seen anything much, hung up pretty quickly. I reckon this was the appropriate way to handle the situation so that he could talk to anyone who might really need help. I then stopped by the Third District offices to let them know what I’d seen. So, that’s my DC shooting story for the week.

I’d just like to say, props to the officers who drive fast towards people shooting guns with real bullets in them, they really do that, and also for the professional way the officer at the Third District took my statement. I’d say my admiration for the people who head towards danger has increased quite a bit as of this evening, and I am ever more grateful for the work they do. I just wish that it were not necessary.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
