4722 14th St, NW
Back in July ’11 we learned that Ruff N Ready would be closing at 1910 14th St, NW to make way for a Taylor’s sandwich shop. We speculated about where a new location would be successful for a FQotD. A lot of neighborhoods were mentioned. Since then, I’ve been getting a few tips about a new 16th Street Heights location and I’m now happy to share the great news confirmed by a reader:
“Dear PoP,
So there I was, window shopping at Miss Pixie’s, when I found this delightful announcement:
NEWS FLASH!! RUFF & READY
WILL OPEN SOON (DATE TO BE
ANNOUNCED) @ 4722 14TH ST.NW
@ 16TH STREETS HEIGHTS!How exciting is that? VERY, in my book.”
I’m gonna concur – this is very good news.
They already give you a taste of what’s to come:

4722 14th St, NW is located in the former Esther’s Treasures space (which closed back in Sept. ’10) across the street from the Bus Barn and a few doors up from Highlands Cafe:

..or bike. or bus. or drive. or cab. or walk. or stay in the neighborhood.
people...
I guess they'll have to just walk the half mile to the NOMA Metro or take the H St...
do all texans think the same?
i'm not sure why i get why that is relevant.
score for 16th street heights.
Wow! My wish came true!
Are they downsizing the amount of offerings? I don’t think the former “Esther’s Treasures” is nearly the same space as the Ruff-N-Ready U Street location? Still glad to have them coming up to our neck of the woods though!
Walking distance from my place! Yay!
great news.
Best news ever!
This is great! Can’t wait to check it out!
Rockin good news
LOVE Ruff and Ready! So happy that are re-opening soon.
Yes!!!! This just made my day!!!!
Although Ruff and Ready is not “officially” open, they are “receiving visitors” at the new location! Yes, it’s a smaller venue, and yes, it’s not nearly as crowded (or dirty for that matter) than the old space. MUCH improved!
i was there the other day and they have a lot of great stuff. two floors (main and basement). got a great deal on a handful of poseable wrestling characters (for my seven year-old).
They are definitely open and have a lot of great stuff. Bill, the owner, says they will soon have a website to view the items that may no longer be at the shop but are still available. And they are open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
