chicken and waffles look awesome – where is this culinary temple of deliciousness?

    • That’s got to be the Capital City Diner on Bladensburg Road, but even if its not, they can satiate all your Fried Chicken and Waffle needs! They are only open till 3 on weekdays right now, but 24 hours on weekends. Definitely worth the trip.

  • Am I the only one who doesn’t get the chicken and waffles thing? Admittedly I’m not crazy about fried chicken or waffles or even syrup in the first place, but even if I loved those things I don’t see how they’re supposed to compliment one another. It sounds like a dry, bland meal.

yeah, i don’t know what the connection is. but i like chicken. and i like waffles. what the hell, why not together.

    • What? It’s the classic savory + sweet combination that you see in a lot of other dishes. As for the dryness, if made right the waffle should be nice and light, the chicken should be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and then, then my friend, you put syrup over it!

      • And don’t forget the hot sauce on the chicken. I’m talking about Frank’s RedHot with its perfect combo of heat and spice, not that hot and flavorless McIlhenny’s mess.

        I love chicken and waffles.

Okay, I am just going to put this out there, but chicken is why God invented waffles. Or maybe the waffles came first. It doesn’t even matter. Because when they come together and make sweet, fried, clucking, grid-shaped love in your mouth, it will fill you with joy. It’s like they filled a truck with everything you love about Belgium. . . which is just the waffles. . . and it collided with a schooner filled with everything you love about clogging your heart. . . which is often fried foods. Trucks and schooners usually don’t follow the same travel plans, so maybe someone used a catapult to shoot the truck out into a sea of syrup where the schooner was sailing by. This metaphor is getting away from me, so I’ll just say this is one of my favorite meals.

Not a ton of places to get it here, but you can get a pretty good rendition from Founding Farmers or from Marvin.

  • No idea what you’re saying but I’m always a fan of rampaging metaphors and waffle love.

  • Someone needs to start a chicken and waffles truck.
