You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every morning at 10am.

  • rant: unpredictable, wishy-washy project managers. make up your freaking mind so i don’t waste my time on your stupid requests!

rave: awesome weekend. seriously, an awesome weekend. another awesome weekend predicted for this week. YAY!

    rant: job hunting.
rave: i have a job now.
rant: fitting a job posting to the letter and STILL not getting a call back. sheesh.

  • RAVE: A decent restaurant finally opened in Shaw
RANT: The crap that the ABRA is pulling with Shaw’s Tavern’s liquor license …

    • The license is on hold because the developers broke DC liquor laws. It may suck that they can’t serve, but ABRA makes one day licenses available so restaurants can hold events like the one that Shaw’s Tavern supposedly served alcohol to illegally.

    • you don’t think there are other decent restaurants in shaw? damn, i do. maybe i have bad taste.

      • andy

I am curious. What are the decent Shaw restaurants? (We’re not talking about anything just off of 14th or U, right?)

        • I like Beau Thai and Zee’s a lot.

        • oh… you don’t consider stuff near u street shaw? alrighty then.

          how about
          the passenger
          queen of sheba
          beau thai
zenebech ( not sure if it’s still open though)

i guess i should have asked what you considered shaw.

    • Meant another great restaurant opened in Shaw … sorry for any misunderstanding …

  • rave: weather is going to be in the LOW 80s this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday! yippie!

rant: my old dog is suffering from a variety of ailments, poor thing.

    • Hate to burst your bubble, but unless you consider 86 to be low, it aint gonna be that nice. (Capital weather gang generally has the most accurate temperature predictions for the region).

  • Rant: Coworker that feels the need to stop into my office for mundane chatter every single time he walks by. He spends a majority of his day walking around the office trying to find more victims to bore to death.

Rave: It’s almost time for lunch.

    • Ha! I have the same coworker, except it’s a she, and her cube is right next to mine. Not only do I get interrogated about what my weekend plans are (every Friday), what I did during the weekend (every Monday) but I get to overhear her many daily phone conversations with “Mother.” Sometimes I think I’m working with Norman Bates!

    • Laura?

  • Rant: I’m here at work. Craigslist, mediabistro are not helping with my job search.

Rant: Learning Russian adjectives for the first time and most are at least 12 letters long. Good grief.

    Rave: Had an amazing weekend.

  • Rant: people who ride their bikes on the sidewalks

Rave: people who ride their bikes on sidewalks getting knocked over

  • Rant: Feeling overall icky. Not sure what is up but I just do not feel good! Fatigued, achy, blah blah blah.

Rave: Going to leave work early and go shopping. Like I need more stuff…

  • Rant: Why do the construction workers at 17th and I start digging up the street at 8:30am?!?!?!

Seriously, who approved a permit to reduce rush-hour traffic to one lane????

Why can’t this work be done at night – is DC really that much of a third-tier city?????

    • This is a union town and people sleep at night.

Besides, who gives a crap about commuters who drive?

      • Because commuters who take the bus down Connecticut Ave/17th Street (like me) also get stuck in 20 minutes of unnecessary traffic.

    • because then your rant would be about the workers keeping you up at night..

      • Nobody lives on this block – PNC bank is to the west and TD bank is to the east. There are a couple of hotel in the vicinity, though.

  • Rant: Was almost knocked over by a crazy man on the Dupont Metro escalator on my way into work this morning because he thought it was safe to run down it even though there were people walking safely and at a reasonable speed in front of him.

Rave: We ended up on the same train. The running and pushing was clearly worth it, eh?
