The 5pm Post – Capitol Lounge Hosts Comedy Fundraiser for Tune-Inn Staff Tonight

From a press release:

The Capitol Lounge and Hobbes’ House of Soap are partnering to host a comedy benefit for staff of the Tune Inn on Wednesday, July 20. A local institution, the Tune Inn was forced to shutter its doors indefinitely after a fire ripped through the business’ kitchen on June 22, 2011. Three of the area’s best comics have agreed to perform with a portion of proceeds being donated directly to the staff of the Tune Inn.

Jason Weems – – has been seen at the most prestigious comedy festival in the world – The Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal – and recently added a featured semi-finalist credit to his name on the hit NBC Series Last Comic Standing. In December 2010, he filmed his first hour comedy special entitled Jason Weems, Vol. 1: Intellectual Property in his hometown that has since been released independently.

Food and drink specials will be available. In addition to proceeds, direct donations will be accepted on behalf of the Tune-Inn employees.

  • I had no idea this happened to the Tune Inn! That place was a DC landmark. You can find a big ole pointy monument or a drab aold memorial anywhere.

There was only one Tune Inn.
