You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every morning at 10am.

    Rave: It’s Friday!
Rant: Working in Chantilly 1 – 4 tomorrow, so with the drive, the five best hours of Saturday are shot.

Random: I posted this comment on the post about FF’s apiary, but was late to the party and want to pop it in here as well to see if I can catch anyone:
So I see at least a couple people commenting here have their own hives set up – would any of you be interested in trading some honey for other food products? It’s so hard to find local honey around here! The garden’s not looking great this year but I’m hoping to have some herbs and hot peppers in a little bit, if that’s of interest, and I also love doing all sorts of cooking and could trade a jar of homemade nutella or raspberry vinegar syrup (this stuff is great in so many things – drinks, yogurt, or (my favorite) on an apple cheddar sandwich). Anyone?

  • Rave: Two festival gigs this weekend, including one out of town and the Barbecue Battle.

    Rave: This City Paper story:

Rave: Got to Botanical Garden while they were putting in new plants, and got a whole bunch of information on what they were putting in!

Rant: They were plants suitable only to zones 10 or 11 and therefore not perennial in DC.

Rant: When I left work yesterday, I turned my phone on and it apparently thought I was in Portland, Oregon. But the time was correct. Sometime during the night, it decided to go to Pacific Standard Time, making it 3 hours earlier, and so my alarm didn’t go off. Late for work, meaning I have to stay late on a Friday. *grumble*

Rave: Got brand new curtains to spiff up almost the entire house.

Rant: Husband picked up curtain rods for all windows (12 in all) that are just about 1/4 inch too short… so back to the store they go.

  • Rant: Migraines
Rave: My puppy always makes me happy:)

  • Rant: Fiancee almost rear ended two minivans that cut us off on 14th street during rush hour.

Rant 2: Fiancee actually rear ended the third minivan, this time a cab, that cut us off in Thomas Circle. Then he wouldn’t give us his insurance information

Rave: Hopefully no real damage and an extremely helpful police officer responded to the scene and believed our version of what happened (though when the cab driver changed his story three times and the paint scrapes don’t match bis version of events, it’s not hard).

    • Time for some defensive driving tips.

      1. Always assume all minivans will cut you off and prepare for it.
      2. Always maintain at least a 40 feet buffer zone in all directions from all minivan cabs.
      3. Avoid driving through Thomas Circle unless absolutely necessary.
