you know a house is silly big when you have a *2nd* family room.
i agree with anonymous (3:04), you guys have a much more blessed existence than i. if there are random superficial things like landscaping, painting, or furniture that you don’t like, guess what? if you’re buying an $8million mansion, that stuff only adds up to chump change.

i must go now, and scour my couch for loose change for the down payment.

Interesting question. I’d think it has to do with the size of the rooms – take the ‘President’s mansion’ – its rooms are designed to reasonable scale and it doesn’t seem like a hotel (to me anyway).
