Your Afternoon Animal Fix – Adopt Kittens

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool with your pets name and neighborhood. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

After Ernie, this great dog has to be one of the most popular in PoPville. He’s definitely been featured a few times – but he’s so damn dignified that I suspect he’ll be featured again. Thanks to Ben for sending the photo above via twitter and John for sending the one below via email.

He lives on Calvert St, NW in Adams Morgan.

“We recently celebrated our cat Lillian’s 20th birthday. Lillian lives a life of luxury in our Brookland, DC, home. ”

From an email:

“We have been having lots of fun fostering 5 female kittens for the last 2 weeks- thru DC Metro Ferals . Its all total cutiness at our house.

The girls are almost 8 weeks old and are available for adoption.

Everyone is eating wet food and 3 are also eating dry food.

If you know anyone interested in adopting kittens please feel free to have them contact Annette 202-797-1149.

Thanks for helping find loving homes for these cute little ladies :)”

  • Great afternoon animal fix:

Congrats to grandma Lilian for making 20 years
The ball hoarding Frenchie is too funny
Those kittens are awesome. Tortie shelled cats are my favorite. I’d take that gray- tortie in the back if I could it’s going to be gorgeous.

  • That’s ROMO the dog on Calvert Street, I used to live across the street from Romo for three years….and yes he’s named after Tony Romo, his dad is a huge Cowboys fan.

    • -1 for Romo.

    • Don’t know much about dogs, but am wondering what kind of a dog is he? He looks pretty majestic.

      • Looks like a mastiff of some sort to me.

I used to think I wanted a mastiff, after seeing one being all cute in a movie. Then I went to a dog show, and one of the mastiffs had an accident in the ring. A snow-shovel-sized accident. I was cured.

      • American Bulldog. I used to live across the street from him too, my roommate accused me of being a Romo-stalker.

  • I laugh out loud every time I see that dog hanging out the window on Calvert. Glat to finally put a name to the face.

  • Lillian is looking great for 20. Hope ya’ll have many more healthy and happy years together!

  • Congrats Lillian! You look fantastic after 20 years. To a long, wonderful life 🙂

I love Romo. Seeing him on my way from home from work always makes me happy.

Happy Birthday Lillian! I can only hope my kitty lives as long.

  • Cute cute cute!! All of ’em!

    Happy birthday to Lillian!

And best of luck with the kitty adoptions! Thank you for fostering.

  • I am 99% sure Romo is a Neopolitan Mastiff. I have friends who lived next door and I asked them. Despite his name, he is hysterical–lounging out the window and people watching.

  • Happy birthday, Lillian!! That’s amazing – she must be 100 in people years. Hope she keeps going strong 🙂

    • Actually, 20 in cat years is equivalent to 96 in people years. I know this because my cat is also 20; she will turn 21 in July.

  • Twenty years is a very long time.

Lillian is a definite established family member.

If she was your daughter, she’d be in college now.

Continued good health, appreciate and enjoy her everyday.

  • Love Romo! Had a pic on my phone but never knew he was such a popular guy. Seems to be a guy that knows how to pass time.

  • Lillian’s 20th birthday – how awesome! She looks great! (and appears to have posed for that pic better than any cat I’ve owned.)

I’m stealing the idea of taking pictures of my cats every year on their birthday. What a great way to have a record of every year I have them!

  • Romo, huh? I’ve been walking past that dog for a few years, and have named him Don Pedro in my head.

  • This post is making me miss my kitties who passed at age 17 and 19 respectively. But not quite enough to adopt a new one just yet.

  • Romo is actually my little boy :). It so wonderful to see all of the nice comments about him! He is such a ham…very spoiled (and we wouldn’t want it any other way :)) and he eats up any and all attention :). He’s mastiff/pit/american bulldog and absolutely LOVES that window and people watching. For the record, I’m a HUGE Redskins fan, but I lost the bet and my bf won the naming :(.

Thanks so much for posting a pic of him!!!
