Mosley writes,

“I found pictures of my parents taken 40 years ago during the Cherry Blossom blooming in 1971. I tried to retrace where the photos were taken; I thought I had a good idea where each shot was taken. But I soon realized that living trees are hard to match up 40 years later. I got close but some things are off and I didn’t match them up like I wanted. I guess I try next year.”

Very cool.

  • Cool, I have an old photo of my grandparents kissing on a bench under a cherry tree in bloom, taken somewhere in DC, now I am motivated to go find the bench! Thanks!

  • Fantastic set of photos! I hope my children/grandchildren can do that in the future.

  • What a wonderful idea. It’s especially interesting because they don’t let you touch the trees or take home branches anymore.

    • really? I did not know that, I was there last week and there were people even climbing the trees.

      • That has been the law since I can remember back a couple of decades.

        Makes since huh?

      • ah

And there is always 100% compliance with the law and effective enforcement.

I’m amazed that it was only 20 years ago that someone realized we needed a law.

(But they could use more signs creating reminders–it’s pretty bad with people climbing and picking flowers)

    Very cool.

  • That’s such a beautiful idea and a great composition regardless of it it’s “right.” Nice!
