  • Adams Morgan is scary….I live in CH so I am used to neighborhodd drug dealers and street thugs hanging around, but even I wont go out in A.M. anymore because of the sketchiness and violence.

  • Very interested to find out more about this since it happened on my block. Who was the victim? Was this a shooting, domestic abuse, a homeless person? Anyone have more info? With it being Easter Sunday and the church at Kalorama and Ontario surely being busy around that time, I’m very surprised that any incident happened there.

    • wouldn’t your neighbors be a better source of information?

      • Yes, and I’ll be sure to chat with them as I’m out in the neighborhood this evening, but thought that some of my neighbors who frequent this blog would have some info as well. Very good question though, sir.

      • isn’t this a neighborhood blog? I’m pretty sure this is just another way of asking one’s neighbors, in which case, welcome to the conversation.

    • “With it being Easter Sunday and the church at Kalorama and Ontario surely being busy around that time, I’m very surprised that any incident happened there.”

I wouldn’t be surprised by that. In DC, church attendance and violence tend to be pretty highly correlated.

  • I was walking by 17th and Euclid at 2 pm and saw about 4 cop cars swing by that typically terrible corner heading northbound towards Columbia Rd. Guess they were coming from the scene of the crime, and checking up on our friends at 1701 Euclid Street. If I were a bettin’ man, I’d say those residents have something to do with it–they always do..

    • Makes me think of a time that i was at a party at 17th and euclid…. And the next day at the same street corner, someone was shot in the hand.

    • When I first moved to DC six years ago I lived at 17th & Euclid. What a corner. 1701 is a riot– back then you could sit on the porch and watch drug deals go down one after the other.

The cops broke up all the loitering several years back and it got a lot better.

    • I bet it was one of those Hinckley pottery students up the street — they’re a rough bunch. They’ll turn your ass into raku teapot in no time.

  • Very interested as well since I live a block away – and walked up Ontario with my pup @ noon sunday. The church was pretty busy when I walked by it later @ 3…

blunt force trauma from the post, so no shooting.. but domestic? mugging in broad daylight? egads

  • The mysterious DC kid killer strikes again. How many hit kids are there in this town? DYRS is all over the news this past week, escapes, murders, what a mess! Ankle GPS units off, ankles shot, wierd.

  • Summertime in the city. Oh joy.

  • Main question with this and most other crime reports is whether it’s gang on gang or otherwise isolated or random. Not that any shooting is good, but isolated incidents warrant A different response from both police and the community (again, not condoning any violence, but rather applying different weight to it).

  • i don’t think it was a shooting; nothing about shots; sounds more like a beating

  • The boy who was killed used to be a busboy at mr. smiths in Georgetown. The guys in the kitchen are trying to raise money to send him back to El Salvador to be with his family and buried in his native country. No one knows what happened or who did it but we are all mourning the loss of this young man.

  • Also… it was not a shooting, he was brutally beaten apparently his face was smashed to bits.
