Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos or news please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

“Jackson “Jackie” Pollock is four years old and has lived in four different DC neighborhoods — Brightwood, Columbia Heights, Truxton Circle, and (currently) Trinidad.”

  • Anyone know what species of turtles these are? This was in a pond in Brookside Gardens, in Wheaton, MD, if that makes a difference.

    • I am pretty sure they’re red-eared sliders. The grown-up version of those little ones that get sold in front of DCUSA from time to time. Also the same kind they have at the zoo, in the pond enclosure near the lions that used to have lemurs.

  • How big is Mosby? Looks just like my dog (if 20-25 lbs?) – recently identified as a “Feist.”

    • Ah! The Feist dog…we brought home a second dog two weeks ago who is (reportedly) a Chihuahua-Pit Bull mix but have also had suggestions that she’s a feist (she’s 20lbs). Cute doggies.

  • Our baby Mosby is 65 lbs. The bed is huge, so it makes him looks small. He’s part lab, part something else.
