Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos or news please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

“This is Flapjack, spending a lazy Sunday afternoon watching tv in Logan Circle.”

“Not a great photo, but this is a hawk who shows up sometimes outside our Mount Pleasant home, adjacent to Rock Creek Park.”

“This is Joey. Worn out from running around the apartment from 4-7 AM.”

  • Love it… 4 to 7 am. I bet Joey is texting my Gracie about the same time.

  • I know this is probably a tip cat owners have heard before but in case not . . . giving your cat a small snack before you go to sleep makes the cat much more likely to sleep (or, you know, lounge around and wash themselves) through the night. It works for my very hyperactive cat (though she does jump on my bed and start licking me around 7 in anticipation of breakfast).

  • I’ve found that if I play with my cats and wear them out before bedtime then they’re far less likely to be bouncing off the walls (and me) early in the morning.

I also sleep with a spray bottle within arm’s reach to let them know I will do nothing but squirt them if they disturb me before I am ready to get out of bed!

  • I love looking at cats doing that curl thing.

  • My favorite lil devil…
