Win 2 Tickets to M3 Rock Festival at Merriweather May 13th & 14th

For those of you bold enough to admit that you love glam rock this is for you. Enter your favorite glam rock band/memory for a chance to win two tickets. I’ll pick a winner Monday.

No, youʼre not having flashbacks. These intensely vivid heavy metalmemories youʼre about to experience will ignite in 2011. Kix, Warrant, LA Guns, Whitesnake, Tesla and Lita Ford will be among the acts taking over Merriweather Post Pavilion, playing full sets of their glam rock and heavy metal hits, along with other unexpected amazements.

In its third year, I.M.P. Presents M3 Rock Festival will add a Kick Off Party and Concert featuring full sets, since one day alone canʼt contain all this metal. The Official M3 Kix-Off Party will get things started Friday, May 13 at 7pm. The full-blown 2011 M3 Rock Festival begins Saturday, May 14 at Noon. Last year VIP and Pavilion seats sold out faster than you could flick your Bic, so headbangers hoping to get close enough to smell the sweat will want to be at their computers Thursday, Feb 3 at 10am EST for the insiders pre-sale. Only members of M3 Rockersʼ Forum will be given the pre-sale promo code. Fans can sign up for the Rockersʼ Forum here.

Discounted 2-Day Packages will go on sale to the general public Friday, Feb 4 at 10am EST. If there are any tickets remaining as of March 4 , they will go on sale as Single-Day tickets at 10 am EST through Ticketfly. Tickets can also be purchased at the Merriweather and 9:30 Club Box Offices. For more information, visit here.

  • dare I ask about strollers????

  • Ha! I haven’t heard Kix in decades. They were huge in the early ’80s; the guys are from Hagerstown. They were regulars at Hammerjacks.

  • Loosing my virginity to a girl with a “Jersey Claw” under the bleachers at an AC/DC/Slash’s Snakepit concert in NJ at the Meadowlands.

Oh how I dreamed of being the girl in a Motley Crue video! I dressed like I was every single day–my preacher father was mortified. I’d tease and spray my hair to go to this show!

Wonder if Lita Ford still has that amazing voice? She’s always been a badass.

  • Let me predicate this by stating that I ran the heavy metal show at my college radio station from 2004-2005 and that I always started my set with a block of hair metal before moving into other stuff. And that I always opened with “so give me a call and let me know what you want to hear ’cause…” and then pressed play on Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock!”

My best hair metal memory however comes from an ampitheater show of Def Leppard, Foreigner and Styx with my brother. There were threats of storms in the area but we went down there anyway and grabbed seats on the lawn. As it started to rain prior to the show, we were having a great time getting soaked and watching people flee. Then it started raining heavier and the wind started blowing the rain around and we could see it swirling up under the covered seats and soaking the people who thought they were going to stay dry. And unfortunately, it was also getting the stage wet, so it looked unlikely the show was going to go on. So my brother and I are sitting in our lawn chairs, soaked and laughing when all of a sudden it started hailing. And that was when EVERYONE grabbed their shit and took off, bags and chairs held over their heads as they ran for the covered seats, sliding down the wet grassy hill. The show did end up getting canceled, but they were able to reschedule it for just a week later and we came back and the show was absolutely worth having been assaulted by mother nature.

  • I spent my 80’s behind the iron curtain; my memories of glam metal are all about me and my friends going to a lucky guy’s house who every once in a while would get betamax tapes with MTV videos that we watched again and again….

  • POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME. (please?)

  • When I was 14, my father took me to see Motley Crue on the Girls tour at the Cap Center where we witnessed Tommy Lee roll his drum cage 360 degrees in every direction possible. My jaw dropped in awe but when I asked my dad what he thought, his reply was…”I was looking at the back-up singers!”

  • Way too many memories from the 80’s to post here; my newest and best was taking my own kids to see Heaven & Hell w/ Megadeth & Machine Head. When I rocked them to sleep as infants at 2AM, it wasn’t soft, classical music, Ozzy’s “Over The Mountain”, and Scorps “Rock You Like A Hurricane” did the trick!!! And it paid off because they too, LOVE ’80’s metal bands just as much as I do!!!! \m/

  • I saw Kix a few times in the 80’s. I had a temporary hearing loss from their show at Hammerjacks. I cannot imagine what condition Kix band members are in or any of the others bands playing.

I doubt I will go as I buried the 80s metal band habit long ago. However if anyone is going, I think this will be a prime people watching event.

    • Kix put on a great show last year as did (most of) the other bands. For some of the older-aged band members, it’s no longer booze, & women on the tour bus, but rather juice bars and personal trainers.
