You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this week?

  • Rave: Had a great second date last night.
Rave: Today is going to be sooooo nice.
Rant: I’m at work today and tomorrow is supposed to be much colder.

  • Rant/Rave: The contractors I work with will not be allowed to re-bid on the contract in April. This could be good or bad. It could mean working with a new firm, getting a new assignment from company I work for or becoming unemployed.

Rave: Excellent weather! If it stays this way I’m grilling a big steak for dinner tonight.

Rave: Going to check out the Downtown Boxing Club after work today. Looks like it might be the right gym for me.

Rave: Three day weekend, and two first dates early next week.

  • RAVE: I’m telecommuting all week, which means a nice long walk in Rock Creek Church Cemetery in about..um 5 minutes…with my dogs. Also: a nice midday run, instead of trying to run after work in the rush hour, dark and cold. Rave for spring-like weather!!!

  • Whoever is approving road closings for construction in DC is doing a bum job. If there’s rush-hour construction on Georgia Ave, 14th street and 9th street on the same day and at the same time, there’s a massive gridlock. I thought this would be simple to understand… Also Steel plates are way too pervasive in DC, they make potholes look good. Stop the insanity.

  • Rave: The weather

    Rant: Annoying co-workers

    Rave: Long weekend!

Rant: Bad headache from change to nice weather.

    Rant: Artificial Intelligence
    Rave: Other people’s birthdays

  • Rave: love living in Columbia Heights!
Rant: People who throw trash all over Columbis Heights

  • Rave: Daughter’s performance last night as a fairy, a robber and a goat! All in the same piece. Crazy.
    Go DC Bilingual!

Rant: wife away for 3 weeks of travel and had to miss it.

  • Rave: Its Friday, Its nice outside, Great Guniess Toast Tonight, things are really going well with the girl I started to date last month and a House Party lined up in NE.

Rant: Being moderated by PoP for making a joke. Even though my first reaction to the Columbia Heights creeper was to send my best friends girlfriend the link since they live on New Hampshire & Florida. She laughed at my poor misspelled post and found it funny that everyone reacted the way they did. if no one got hurt, why can’t you crack a joke. Seriously ligthen up. My commments are poorly grammared jeberish, something I do because I hate my job. If you can’t find the humor or can’t tell a joke from a serious comment than maybe there is something wrong with you. Overly senstive people lighten up its FRIDAY.

    I forgot

    Three day weekend YAY!

  • Rave: Avett Brothers show to kick off a 3 day weekend.

Rant: Metro now swallowing people – http://unsuckdcmetro.blogspot.com/2011/02/foggy-bottom-escalator-swallows-riders.html

  • Rant: It’s a gorgeous day outside and I’m stuck inside.
Rave: I get to be outside later!

Rant: Work has been super stressful for the past three weeks and it’s starting to wear me down.
Rave: Awesome boyfriend who’s been really good about me being a stressed out grump lately + nice boss who’s okay with me leaving early today.

Rant: Driving to Baltimore tonight: I *hate* being in the car for long periods of time and there’s a strong possibility I might get stuck in traffic.
Rave: The reason I’m going to Baltimore is to buy beer brewing supplies, eat at a really good Afghan restaurant (hopefully), and see a friend I don’t get to see very often.

So it all evens out! Actually, I think it comes out a bit more on the rave side 🙂

    • The drive to Baltimore is not so bad after rush hour. I sometimes have to drive to the Baltimore area at the end of rush hour and still hit lots of traffic on 95, 695 and Liberty Road.

      • It’s actually going to be before (or at the start of, really) rush hour – going straight from work around four . . .

    • Might not have to go to Baltimore for beer brewing supplies – there’s a couple looking to open a craft beer place on georgia ave. Hopefully that works out for them.

      • A homebrew store? I would *love* that and there are a whole lot of people in the DC Homebrewers club that I’m sure would as well . . . if it’s someone you know, tell them there’s lots of interest!

      • saf

A homebrew supply place in town!?

We wouldn’t have to go to Frederick (or Falls Church) any more!

  • Rant: It’s too damned sunny and hot! naaa.

Rave: Took the day off, outside backyard BBQ beer party goin’ on!

  • Rant: Get you friggin feet of the counter.
Rave: 20″ gas stove (at least it’s not electric)

  • Rant: I don’t know Jj to attend this BBQ beer party…
Rave: Fojol bros provides blankets at Franklin Square, perfect for today!!

    • Next time I’ll give some advance notice to PoP so we can get a block party going up in the highlands too! Need some live reggae tunes today! perhaps Nayas

  • Rave: Buddy of mine just got back from Afghanistan. He’s a beer geek, so when he has time to meet I’m taking him out for beers. We went to Churchkey before he deployed and he loved it. Might have to go back there.

  • Rant: I’m stuck inside right now and the weather is just too lovely.

Rave: Started to decorate my apartment this week…did I mention I’ve lived here for 2 years now? oops!

    • I’ve never decorated anything I’ve rented– just doesn’t seem worth the trouble and expense. Now that I’ve bought I’m like a kid in a candy shop.

      • +1.

I never bothered decorating rental places. Though I’m not even sure I’d bother if I owned either. (Only sort of kidding…)

  • RAVE: Wisconsin workers, their unions and their supporters

RANT: Scott Walker and his teabagging cronies.

  • rave: it’s so beautiful outside, the weather that is
rant: i don’t like nice weather

  • Rant: Envy. H St. gets a new restaurant every 2 weeks. Petworth gets a new restaurant every…2 years?

    Revel: weekend.

  • Rant: Guy in my office who corners me and subjects me to an awkward, drawn-out conversation in which he tries unsuccessfully to ask me out. I don’t want to be out to my co-workers, but I might have to make an exception.

    • Nah, it’s nonya, as in none of their business. I have a co-worker who adjusts his junk at the office. Seriously, who does that?!?! And while wearing a suit?!?! Isn’t there a rule or something, or an age expiration for that?

    • Just say you’re not interested, since it sounds like you definitely are not.

  • Rave: Coworkers engaged in a long conversation about the intricacies of their 395/295/95/66/270 commutes. SO GLAD I don’t have to deal with that shit anymore.

Rant: Feeling like an outsider because I can’t relate to the suburban lifestyle.
