A lot of people have written in with questions about street sweeping parking rules. Thanks to a reader for snapping a shot of the new sign above in Petworth. I also spotted one in Columbia Heights.
You guys think this’ll clear up the confusion?

Love Quarry House and Jackies in Downtown Silver Spring. Can't wait for this new location

No. People just don’t read, then they whine that they couldn’t POSSIBLY have been expected to know…
Sorry, feeling cynical this morning.
Maybe. On the other hand, it’s always nice to have an entire block open for parking because everyone else moved their car thinking street sweeping is still on.
Ha, agreed.
+1
Looks like all DPR needs to add to that zamboni is a Caps logo to reap some sweet advertising rewards.
Or a Bud logo.
yep, this is long overdue. i’m puzzled as to the rules on my street, and i’ve been there for 2 years. i have gotten ticketed in mid-winter for parking on either side of the street on “street sweeping” day. i assume i should contest one of those tickets, but damned if i know which one.
I am not sure how it is possible that people are puzzled but even a child can understand this sign.
Funny, I have been in the city my entire life and never received a ticket for anything except an expired meter.
exactly. what exactly do people find difficult to understand about that sign?
the sign is new frankie. no one is puzzled over it.
Hoodrat is… the sign changed not the rules.
If no street sweeper comes, do we get our money back?
They should go back to people with brooms and buckets.
Fight the power!
The dates are what makes this sign the best yet. I kind of like the cartoon sweeper too.
It needs some arms and a head sticking out from beneath it, screaming in agony.
Why are there no street cleaners in Northeast?
One of the reasons DC has such a hard time with snow removal is that they refuse to enforce street sweeping parking reg.’s through the entire year. Many cities do – which enables them to clear snow on those days.
NYC suspends alternate side parking when it snows a lot.
Also, since DC sweeps only once a week you’d be waiting up to 6 days for it to help the plows. (Oh, wait, just in time *snap*)
I liked it when people still thought they couldn’t park on the street cleaning sides during the winter…it was much easier to find parking around town!
