  • Third floor walk up? Not metro accessible? $1500? Vomit.

  • I don’t have a clue what other stuff in that area goes for, but the fact of the matter is that $1500/month for a non-distinct apartment in a non-distinct area is just plain crazy.

  • Apparently neither of you have tried looking for a 1BR apartment in this area – it’s priced about right for what it is. (I would MUCH rather be on the top floor of a 3 story walkup than have upstairs neighbors stomping around above me, but to each his own.)
What I couldn’t figure out is why the ad mentions “small condo fee” – then I realized they had cut and paste from a real estate listing because it’s also on the market.
Pet friendly is a huge plus!

  • Or it could be a scam – one of those overseas folks asking for you to wire them money for the deposit. A lot of them take realestate listings and turn them into craigslist ads.

It is competitive but I want to know what utilities are included. The stock of apartments in this area are older and most have a lot of the utilities included.

  • I lived in the neighborhood for a year and couldn’t wait to move out. Glover park is a little sterile for me. To live in the District I would take my $1500/month to an area with more in the way of a walkable community feeling.

On the other hand my favorite jogginging path (Glover Archabold Park) is only a couple blocks away.

  • This area was nice before Metro existed.
    When nothing was on Metro.
    Now it’s nowhere man.
Craigslist ad doesn’t say but suggests that utilities are not included.
What do they mean by small condo fee?
WTF. They want to charge 1500 in rent PLUS a condo fee?
I lived on Cathedral Ave. not far from here many years ago.
Nice, as I said, but dead.

  • $1500 sounds about right. You can’t get a 1-bedroom for that price in the nicer neighborhoods of DC, and it sure beats living in someplace like Falls Church. The washer/dryer, dishwasher, fireplace, and pet friendliness are nice perks, too. This location doesn’t appeal to me, personally, but there are others to whom it would.

  • A lot of people like living in this sterile safe part of town close to G-Town. That’s why it’s expensive. I won’t mention schools because its a 1 BR but this is a very reasonable price, and you get a real fireplace and pets OK? Good deal. Welcome cat loving med students.
