  • Fuckkkkkkkkkkk
    They tore down H2o!!!!!

  • Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????????

    • http://southwestquadrant.blogspot.com/ has all your answers….in short, there’s going to be a massive redevelopment of the waterfront from the fish market to the Titanic memorial over the next 5-10 years. The fish market will still exist and so will the liveaboard community currently docked nearby.

I live about 2 blocks away and have mixed feelings. But I still love SW and am hoping to buy a place there in the next couple years! I guess my rant is that I didn’t qualify for a mortgage on an awesome foreclosure in my building this fall.

Revels, though: I live in an awesome neighborhood. And my gf & I are going to NYC tomorrow for New Year’s!

      • If you are interested. I have a great place for sale in SW. Check it out: 326 N Street, SW 20024. Love SW, but have moved to Canada. I think SW is going to be the best place in the city to live.

  • Whoa, when did that happen? Though it’s about time the SW waterfront got a facelift!

    • I think yesterday/last night. Rode past it this morning and the whole place is a 10′ pile of debris. Didn’t the DC Gov repo the place for some reason & demo it? There was a sign up on the front of the building last week with Fenty’s name and some promises of “redevelopment”.

Is the DC warf still open?! I’m gonna cry if its not there next year for my crab fix.

  • dang. I hadn’t been to Hogate’s since about 1978.

  • It’s gonna be a sad day in this town when they bulldoze the Cantina Marina. Love it or hate it, there will never be anything like it on the waterfront ever again 🙁

    • I have a soft spot for that Asian fusion place. The decor is charmingly ugly and dated, and the waiters are like something out of a movie. You can’t get experiences like that at you typical swanky DC restaurant.

    • They’re bulldozing Cantina Marina? When? Why?

      • I have no idea if they are or aren’t, but I find it hard to believe that a place like that will survive some fancy waterfront redevelopment.

  • Rant: Work renegged on an early office closure.
Rant 2: Found out all my colleagues except for me got bonuses.
Rant 3: Our JR secretary was snotty and defiant toward me.
Rant 4: My constituency is even more batshit crazy than usual.

Rave: Last day I have to be in this stinkin’ office for 2010.
Rave 2: Gogol Bordello on NYE.
Rave 3: Road trip to Wegmans after work w/my totally awesome BF.
Rave 4: Spending time with great friends and doing some yoga this weekend.

  • Isn’t the demolition part of the larger effort to redevelop the entire waterfront??

  • hogates…wow talk about memory lane…truth is…it prob should have been torn down 10 years ago..

  • Rant: I seem to be the only person in my department not working from home.

Rave: More opportunities for “Spirit Fingers” during teleconferences.

    • Emmaleigh504

I like the way you think! I will do Spirit Fingers after all the early dismissal people leave me all by my lonesome.

Rave: Coworker brought in chocolate chip Nutella cookies. They are divine.

    • Is it safe for me to google “Spirit Fingers” at work? Never heard the term before.

Rave: Got a nice bonus this week. First time I ever got anything like that on this job, and totally unexpected.

Rant: Can’t decide what to cook for dinner tomorrow night. Beef tenderloin or just good steaks? Lobster, or go all the way with surf & turf?

    • “Spirit Fingers” are sooo 2010 try “Double Dream Hands” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm7yAWpX1Mc

  • Rave 1: Spirit Fingers during teleconferences cracked me up.

Rave 2: Finally got moved from fishbowl cubicle to office with window and the warmth of sunlight on my face.

Rant: View out window is fugly suburban commercial sprawl

  • Rave: My son will be turning 4 weeks on Saturday!

Rave: I have been able to be home with him and my wife for a month!

Rant: Back to work on Monday! (Boo!)

  • My 2010 PoP Raves in Review: Got promoted, got a raise (even though salaries were frozen), hired a great new employee, kid got out of daycare into public school (way better than a raise), got a professional certification and was elected class president, upgraded my ubuntu system, streamripper, new camera, new local farmer’s market, the Yes market, the new SW waterfront Safeway for beer runs from the Miss Ann, fun times on the Miss Ann, and, of course, a bounty of beautiful DC women to keep things interesting! Oh and I forgot, falling in love with Pablo.

And the rants: Still haven’t caught up from Snowmaggedon, house renovation stalled, still driving old beater car, too little time for fun in bed because of the kids, great old friend left DC for Cali, too many hangovers, roof leaks, bike stolen, and of course, the local kids with guns killed Neil!

    2010 in review:

Rants: One hellish closing process on my condo, a really difficult break up, missing my ex, saying goodbye to the last matriarch of my grandmother’s generation, two good friends leaving DC, and my job…oh how my job sucks.

Raves: Being a homeowner(!!!), not being in a relationship that doesn’t make me happy, reconnecting with distant family, and the potential for a transfer to a new (better) job in 2011.

2010, you have been a nasty bitch at times. Here’s to a clean slate and good fortune in 2011!

  • Rant: ended it

    Rave: free

Rant: not what I was hoping for

Rave: there’s more to life than that which i was hoping for… + dc nowadys
