Shaw Eyesore Gets Permit to Start Renovations

I’ve always thought this house at 1715 11th St, NW had the potential to be seriously sweet. I was psyched to see a permit had finally been placed on the door to start renovations. I’ll be sure to follow up with photos as progress takes place. It’ll be fun to look at before and after photos.

And of course I’ll be sure to post if it goes on the market so we can see how the inside turns out.

  • Great canvas. Striking empire roof. Those windows are going to cost a fortune, but some nice ones will be absolutely stunning. Imagine the light inside.

  • If this actually gets rennovated, I will be in shock. I am just about sure that he just pulled the permit to avoid paying the higher tax rates for a decrepit building. A shame, because this is a beautiful house.

  • @french streeter you are incorrect sold on November 5 for $375,000

  • I’ve lived on the block since 2002 and, with the exception of pigeons nesting inside the third level, this place has been vacant the whole time I’ve been here. I think it had such severe structural damage a few years ago from water damage (holes in roof) that DC took action and shored it up. It has also been a nuisance property because it attracts drug users and johns/prostitutes via the alley. Glad to see that this may change.
