New Bike Racks Go Up at 11th and Park Rd, NW

Thanks to a reader for the heads up. There is one outside Red Rocks and one outside Meridian Pint across the street. I like how they are also a bit protected.

  • Much appreciated!

It is always annoying competing for parking on the sign posts and parking meters. And thankfully these are spaced far enough that the bikes wont become entwined with one another when locked up between the racks.

  • This is great! Can’t wait to use them.

  • Also a set outside the movie theatre in Georgetown.

  • Awesome! It provides bike parking. It clearly delineates legal parking areas. It calms traffic… Next step is to bump the curb out around these spots to more definitively separate them from the roadway. (Such bumpouts run right around the corner to the crossing street.) Very few intersections around DC have such bumpouts and they should be everywhere.

  • Hmmm odd that someone is locking up a capital bikeshare bike. Maybe that means there should be a station at this intersection too.

  • these were really needed and may not even be enough.

re: capital bikeshare at 11th and park–there’s one two blocks away at the giant (as you probably know) and i don’t know where there would be space for an installation at this corner.

  • Racks at that intersection are a welcome addition. However, given how people drive in this city I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before a driver clips one of those corners too close and takes out the plastic poles or worse, the racks themselves.
