I’ve been dying to know what’s going into this building on H St, NE (next to the Atlas Theater) but sadly haven’t seen anything yet. So in the meantime, lets judge the building. I’ve been watching this building for months and months and this is a complete rehab. It’s def. a unique building for the street. It has some interesting details:

But what do you think overall – thumbs up or down?

A lot has changed in this neighborhood since you lived here four years ago. Sure the area...
Just moved into my new condo in dc and it's been over two weeks and I still have not...
It's summertime, school is out and it's the weekend. Wife and I were comnig home last...
murder is always scary and horrible. always.
yeah, you always mention that when there is a crime in this area.
thumbs down!
Agree
It looked exactly like the one next door before the “renovation” in which they pulled the entire front off and rebuilt it (in the weirdest stone/glass style ever).
Strange “renovation” and strange result.
Thumbs down.
Calm down people. I’m sure it is going to be another theme restaurant/bar. Hence the odd facade. Why should all facades look the same as the ones next door. that would be awefully boring.
The people are calm. What in their comments have you interpreted as hysterical? I asked them a question. They are entitled to their opinions just as you are.
I think he was saying that this building will be a new themed restaurant called “Calm Down,” which serves food and drink known to relieve stress and anxiety.
calm down Pop. I was just sayin…
I thought that was going to be the queen vic.
No the queen vic will be at 1206 H Street NE
I like it…
I was just down there today. I like it, its quirkey. I like that business facades are all different. Even if its a house its kinda neat. Very european villagey
agreed. the differences in all the buildings makes h street very fun.
I fear for all the H st. deer impaling themselves on that fence next door. . .
FUG-LEE!
It’s definitely odd, but I agree it’s distinctive, and it’s a lot better than what almost happened, namely the complete demolition of those two buildings. A year or two ago the (then) owner wanted to do that and there was no legal impediment; in particular, that block is not in any historic district. This, of course, also meant that when things changed (new owner? Reconsideration by the same one? I don’t know), they could get a little non-traditional with the renovation.
Agreed. Kudos to the owner for doing something different.
I think it’s cool. Everyone else can f* off. I own this city.
I like it..Im thinking Italian Bistro??? whatever it is it really stands out.
kinda ugly. kinda fun. if thats a little roof top patio, then its beautiful.
send me a DM @retaildevdc and I can tell you who bought it and what they are intending on doing.
i think it’s supposed to be a place called Chow.
