You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this weekend?

  • Rave: Toured birthing center and got a doula! Two more items off the “To do” list prior to Little Man’s arrival! Next up, find a pediatrician.

Rant: All the violence in the hood. Yuck!

    • We like Dr. Necole Washington. She practices out of Washington Hospital Center, with Dr. McKnight. Location is convenient, office staff is friendly and efficient, and the wait times for routine appointments are easy. I’ve heard so many horror stories about the big fancy practices and their inept billing practices, and the months-long wait for non-urgent visits, it makes me love Dr. Washington even more. (Dr. McKnight is the senior physician, and she’s fine, but Dr. Washington is a little warmer, better communication/ bedside manner.)

      • We go there, too, and also like both Dr. McKnight and Dr. Washington. My husband thinks that Dr. Washington has been a little condescending with him (granted, one time he was there with the baby because daycare noticed 5 or 6 tiny, insignificant red bumps on his stomach and sent him home with a “rash”). I’ve never experienced that, though. Love the fact that they open at 7am so we can be in and out and hardly late for work, plus no fighting downtown traffic and inexpensive parking.

      • Thanks for the recommendation, I will look into her.

  • RAVE: I finally pulled out the box set I bought over a year ago and had a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oDuGN6K3VQ a-thon yesterday. Got as far as the dwarf dance dream. Oh, the delicately disturbed memories!

RANT: Shouldn’t have bothered to do my hair this morning. The misty rain got to me sans umbrella and I now look like a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. 🙁

  • Rave: Felt good riding 80 miles yesterday
    Rant: First hour was rainy.

  • Revel: Going home early to have a nice, rain inspired afternoon nap.

Rant: FY11 raise that just got approved for my office doesn’t apply to me sicne I started too late this year … depressing to the max. Need to get another job.

    • @ A, you’re kidding right?
If I were you, I would hold on to that job – seeing you have the flexibility to leave early and catch up on your sleep.

    • yeah, no sh-t. You have a job where you can decide, “eh, I think I’ll go home and take a nap!” and you’re complaining? How old are you? Did you grow up getting a gold star and a blue ribbon just for showing up?

Used to be people had to *work* to earn things. Not for you, I guess. You want a pat on the back just for coming to work and not falling asleep at your desk?

  • Rave: painted one wall of our bedroom dark blue and it turned out alright
Rant: bugs coming into the house – not pleasant

  • rave: fiesta DC … and the weather holding up

rant: my neighbors who think it is fun having a deck party until 3am.

  • Rave: Rain

    Rant: Twin Peaks freaks

  • Rave: We have new neighbors and they seem cool. Yay!

  • Rave: James @ 9:30 club tonight!

  • Rave: Ran the 197-mile non-stop relay with 10 friends from Cumberland, MD, to Washington, DC, on Friday and Saturday. Quite the accomplishment for me.

Rant: Sore. With many blisters. And the likelihood of losing some toenails.

  • Rave: I get to home in a few hours, immediately change to pajamas, order a pizza and start reading the new book I got for my birthday. Best rainy night plan ever.

Rant: Reading through comments on today’s PoP posts and noticing so many downright mean and/or arrogant comments. C’mon people!

  • Rave: 2.5 hours on Saturday with a sledge hammer, a cold chisel and an ax got the holly tree stump out of the front yard.

Rant: Sick as a dog today with the flu.

  • RAVE: My cat’s 16th birthday.
RANT: The lost art of properly packing groceries. I end up with busted yogurt cartons and cracked eggs.

  • Rant: sick dad, stepmother, mom and mother-in law. It’s been a bad year for the parents in my family. Just visited my dad – he’s looking very frail, so sad! But on the bright side, my mother in law is out of the hospital and my mom recovered super well from her surgery and was declared cancer-free. Now if everyone can stay well…

  • Rave: Had one last beach day in OC for the year on Sat then a long lazy brunch in Logan with a friend on Sun and hit every furniture store in the area. Didn’t buy anything because I couldn’t make up my mind and had no budget for what I really wanted but the neighborhood walk was great.

@PetworthRes, so glad your parents are on the mend. There’s nothing worse than when the ones that took care of you all your life are ailing.

  • Rave: More adult classes have been added to the schedule at the Dance Institute of DC. Flamenco starts tonight!

    No rants 🙂

  • Rave: Post lunch revel gazing out onto Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, the wind, the clouds, the light rain, sailors furling the main, the tall ship and submarine in view, the water taxi running to and fro, pink floyd t shirts on folks walking by, the sexy jogger, tall buildings, Camden’s bricks.

Rant: I couldn’t keep driving all the way to Maine for some more Schooner action.

  • me

Rave: My parents flew down for the weekend, and I hadn’t seen them for about 6 months. It was great to spend a couple of days with them! The older I get, the more I appreciate them.

Rant: Cancer is back. Boo. 🙁
