The Craigslist ad says:

“Stunning new two bedroom condo in CityVista. The chic kitchen sports espresso cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. An island bar is perfect for impromptu cocktails! Hardwood floors flow from the kitchen to the spacious living room, flooded by light with floor-to-ceiling windows. The tenth floor views are incredible! The carpeted bedrooms each have huge closets and private tiled baths with gorgeous large vanities. The building features a concierge, community room, and rooftop deck & pool.”

Given all the talk about City Vista I thought it’d be cool to look inside. I’m not gonna lie, I am a bit jealous of this one. But do you think it is worth $2800 (2 bed/2bath)?

  • Definitely not worth it, especially since the City Vista apartment complex next door offers two months free rent (or at least they were when I was looking at apartments a few months ago), making a 1 bedroom come out to about 1500/month. I’m not sure how much 2 bedroom apartments were going for, but I’m pretty sure it was less than 2800, especially with the two months free offer.

  • Nice space, smallish bedrooms, no parking and no pets. I wouldn’t pay it.

  • It’s really, really nice. But dear G-d, it’s really small and that’s a lot for a 2 bedroom.

  • This might sound crazy, but if you found a roommate that you like and can afford $1,400 each – would be a pretty nice place to live. The pool is ridiculous.

Though I’m sure you could get many other cool places in the area if you’re willing to split nearly 3 grand a month with someone.

  • Not that impressive of a location for that kind of money. Probably just my personal preference, but I always felt like the only reason I would want to live in that area is that I could potentially get somethign really nice for less money than Logan, Dupont, U Street or AdMo. For this money, I think you could get something in those neighborhoods.

    • Yeah – I don’t think it’s the crowd that developers have been shooting for in Mt Vernon Triangle (and Near Southeast, too) – with these fancy new buildings. Probably more empty-nesters and high earning types who want easy access to parking and freeways. The kind of people who think about how fast they can drive to the airports over how fast they can walk to Churchkey or Cork.

      • The walk from Cityvista to Safeway, Kushi, Taylor, and Busboys is less than a minute. A little bit farther, the walk to Oyamel, Rasika, Jaleo, Iron Horse, Zaytinya, Post, RFD, Proof, Corduroy, and others are 10 minutes or less. The walk to Churchkey from that block is 19 minutes, which is more than reasonable.

So I imagine that Mt Vernon Triangle residents are just as into walkable neighborhoods and the rate of car ownership is roughly the same as those in Logan Circle.

  • You could easily spend this much in Dupont, Logan, ect. In this vast city, there are actually some people that prefer Chinatown ish to Logan. Maybe they work in NoMa, the Hill, or VA. Living right above a gym, Safeway, and a couple restaurants is a huge boon.

It’d be interesting to compare this to that other condo development, at I think 14 and T? I think there’s a Yes beneath. Right near the other Busboys.

I can find a bunch of cheaper 2 bedrooms just north of City Vista, but comparing those to this isn’t apples to apples. By the same token, comparing this to a Dupont $2500 two bedroom with window units, that’s not hovering over a Safeway, isn’t apples to apples either. This is a luxury rental.
