Looped Yarn Works will be coming to 1732 Connecticut Ave, NW above Mourayo restaurant. Their Web site says:
“Looped Yarn Works is bringing yarn back to Dupont Circle. We’ve all missed our local yarn store (lys) in the neighborhood. We’re excited to bring the community a friendly, comfortable and warm shop with a selection of beautiful yarns and notions. Some of the yarns you’ll find at Looped include Malabrigo, Berocco, Koigu, Rowan, Frog Tree, Classic Elite, SWTC, Blue Heron and Tilli Tomas. And this is just the beginning!”

And in sadder news the Pleasure Place, always fun to walk by, has closed nearby at 1710 Connecticut Ave, NW. Looks like there is still a location on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown. For those who will miss the Dupont location you can go nearby to Secret Pleasures located at 1510 U Street, NW.

Hope you get her back soon
Unfortunately, many of the older residents would prefer empty storefronts over anything...
I had a Yorkie and it pains me to recall thoughts of when my see you next Tuesday gf left...
I hope your prayers are answered.
Our thoughts are with you.
Yay for the yarn store! They should get plenty of business in that location.
The world I knew is gone.
Wow, sad to hear about the Pleasure Place. Many many years ago I . . . well, I’ll leave out the details but suffice it to say that my life was changed permanently on that fateful afternoon.
Not surprised, though – my partner and I ventured in several months ago and the inventory was horrible.
So, no more erotic toys but we’re good on yarn? Sighing heavily. At least Larry’s still sells ‘Libido’ ice cream.
Wonderful news! The Dupont village needs a wonderful yarn shop – can anyone here remember The Woolgatherer – once just above the Circle on Connecticut; later at 22nd and P? Favored by both grandes dames like Dorothy Height and macho needlepointers like the director of the Marine Band.
Fantastic! I hope they carry Rowan (Stitch DC doesn’t anymore, and it is my favorite)
pleasure place is the third or fourth shop to fold on that block in a matter of months. daddy & son, terra, and maybe another place have all closed down recently. they’ve been replaced with a nail salon and an expensive (but tasty) gelato shop.

I guess if I need a new vibrator now, I’ll just have to make it out of yarn.
So happy to see that NW DC will get a yarn shop! I hope they do well. I have heard so many tourists asking for the local yarn store… and while Stitch DC is great, Eastern Market is so far for those of us in NW.
The yarn shop is just a front for an underground Japanese bondage group.
Peter, I would not advise making a vibrator out of yarn but you can knit or crochet a lovely cozy for your vibrator.
