The Craigslist ad says:

“Fully furnished beautiful large studio in secure building. Kitchen has dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, gas stove/oven, refrigerator, disposal dishes, glasses and utensils. New carpeting and flooring and vacuum cleaner. Has a Murphy bed. Laundry facilities on each floor. Pool on rooftop. All utilities included. No pets. Close to 3 metro stations and bus routes.”

Does $1295 sound reasonable?

  • $1295 is NOT reasonable for a studio in DC. I don’t care how “fabulous” the neighborhood is.

  • Have you been apartment searching in the past 5 years? Even out in the suburbs they’re going for this much at least. Sure, it’s ridiculous, but people are obviously willing to pay for it.

    • Also, it’s furnished… that usually drives up the rent a bit.

    • +1

This is more-than-reasonable for a studio in D.C. In some of the newer buildings studios go for $1650+. Given the fact that this includes all utilities, I’d say the price is about right (not a great deal or anything, but certainly reasonable). I’m guessing it’ll rent at this rate.

  • Good location close to downtown and Dupont Circle. Will rent, especially if the building allows short term monthly rentals.

  • Furnished, in a secure building, close to metro and generally a good neighborhood? I’d say it’s below market value and a steal.

  • how come no one has commented on the fact that it includes a murphy bed?? what is this, nyc?? what a joke.

  • god, if i ever need to find a new place to live i’m going to have to leave the city.

  • A lot of those small studios around Logan and Dupont Circles have murphy beds so it didn’t strike me as odd. I don’t think it’s a NYC thing, but rather a tiny apartment/condo thing.
