  • FAN-tastic. Gotta try the Pan-fried Oysters…

    Nice Happy Hour spot too…

  • I went there when it first opened last year and was horribly disappointed. Food was mediocre and the ambiance was very standard.

For being a “cedar” theme restaurant, everything about this place screamed a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Nothing particularly bad, nothing particularly good. Pricing on par for most restaurants in Penn Qtr.

  • Order anything on any menu with ramps!

  • Even during the off-seaon for ramps?

    • I have never seen ramps anywhere in the off season – not sure they exist. That said, they are in season right now. Yum…

    • I don’t think ramps are an “off season” food, a rarity in this world.

  • When my friend and I were treated very poorly at Cafe Atlantico, right around the corner, we stumbled upon Cedar for a unexpectedly wonderful happy hour. They have good specials, great bartenders, and as it was a slow night, one of them made us blue cheese stuffed olives as he was testing out his technique. Everything about the trip was great, and I have been wanting to get back ever since, but don’t find myself in Chinatown that often after work.

  • try lobster roll. Worth the $.

  • went during restaurant week shortly after it had opened. Besides the awkward setting in a basement it’s pretty good. I’d definitely recommend

  • great food & competent and friendly service. the banana bread french toast was original and tasty and the egg dishes are great.

  • haven’t had a chance to eat there yet, but have been a few times for drinks, and the bartenders are what brings me back. they’re friendly and creative with the drinks. it’s not a big bar, so if it’s crowded it’s a bit of a let down, but if you can grab a seat and chat a bit, it’s a great night.

  • the happy hour deals are good. it’s a bit dark inside (no windows – subterranean space) but they have a few tables outside on the sidewalk in nice weather and those are nice.
