Brookland Avenue sends in the word:

“The Great Brookland Yard Sale (GBYS) is a multi-household extravaganza located in our neighborhood of Brookland. It’s a great event where the community comes out to show why Brookland is a great neighborhood. Its also a great reason to walk around Brookland and reconnect with neighbors that you may not see on a regular basis and possible find that hidden treasure that you have been looking for.”

  • No yard sales on the part of Brookland along north capitol street? heh

  • This actually sounds fun, but can you promise not to clonk me on the head and steal my purse until after dark?

    • This joke isn’t very funny, mainly because it’s not true at all. If you dare venture into NE (which I know some commenters find scary with all the feral children), you’ll find that Brookland looks a lot like Petworth, just with bigger houses and yards.

      • I couldn’t agree with @nloewen any more, well said.

Sure Brookland (and other NE neighborhoods) have had their problems in the past but that was like 2004. Look at the crime stats for us and compare to some nw neighborhoods you’ll see a big difference. 😛

  • Is it possible for any commenter on PoP to actually lave a positive comment?

  • hey where can i have brunch in brookland in conjunction with my yard sale shopping?

    • Colonel Brooks at Monroe and 9th is quite good and very much an institution.

Brookland Cafe on 12th just north of Otis has vegan, vegetarian, and other options, as well as champagne.

Murray and Paul’s between Monroe and Newton on 12th (it’s a greasy spoon, if you like that sort of thing. And I do, sometimes.)
