You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this week?

Anyone have to commute to or through the Pentagon insanity this morning?

  • rant: I check this blog daily hoping to see that Ellwood Thompsons is back on track. it’s been months without an update. I’m begining to think it’s over?
The last we heard was the owner was only 15 percent shy of the target amount to complete the build out. Seems like such a small percentage to stand in the way. We came up with a lot of work-arounds in the comments section. I’m starting to think they are just waiting for the lease to expire. Have they really been paying the rent all this time? what a waste.
rave: looks like nice weather this weekend.

  • Getting on a Bolt Bus at 5 to go to New York for a going away party. My best friend from college (who is an infinitely better person than I) is leaving later this month to spend two years volunteering in an HIV/AIDS clinic in Liberia. Going to miss him a lot, but can’t wait to party this weekend.

  • PoP,

Know you’ve been a big fan of Fusion, so I thought you might enjoy this gift certificate their offering:

$15 for $35 Worth of Indian-American Cuisine at Fusion Restaurant and Bar http://www.groupon.com/washington-dc/deals/fusion-restaurant?utm_campaign=UserReferral&utm_medium=email&utm_source=uu1247270

Went there for the first name with my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and we had a great time

  • Rant: I hate being the go-to do-anything kid at work who gets stuck with the boring shit and shot down when I have ideas to make my job more interesting. I hate that I hate it, because it’s a sweet-ass job otherwise.

Revel: My tulips are blooming in my office and are popping up at Mr. Yogato.

  • Rant: There are not sports bars in Columbia Heights to watch March Madness.

Revel: Can’t wait for the nice weekend

  • Rant: Skip a bag, Save a River slogan. I love the campaign, and I definitely think we should be using less wasteful paper and plastic bags….but if you do skip a bag, you dont pay 5 cents that goes to saving the river.

Someone probably got paid a lot of money to come up with the slogan too….

    • I get your point, but I think the bigger issue is that if you skip the bag, you eliminate the chance that that bag will end up in the river, thereby saving it. Ultimately, I think those running this campaign would rather see fewer bags in the river than more nickels in their coffers.

  • Rave: I see crocuses popping up all over the neighborhood. Is spring really coming?!

Rant: The little woodpecker who lives in the tree in my front yard loves to pound little dents into my gutters. He’s cute but….

  • Rave: two club gigs this weekend

Rant: having to haul equipment up a set of narrow stairs tonight and down them tomorrow night.

  • Kalorini

Rave: Pretty sweet/casual weekend planned, paired with 50-degree weather tomorrow!

Rant: The guy I’m crushing on has been MIA in the last few weeks. Kind of bummed out about it. Oh well!

  • rant: lucky bar hasn’t updated its soccer tv schedule. Will they be showing arsenal v burnley tomorrow morning? i would assume so, but one can never be too sure.

  • Rant: The long winter has really started to affect me emotionally. I finally hit the S.A.D (seasonal affective disorder) zone.

Rant: I think the Pentagon shooter was a “suicide by cop” situation.

Rave: I have a date tonight and a great weekend planned

    captcha…airing skydiver 🙂

  • Rant: Lost my job last Friday

Rave: Had a great interview yesterday!!

  • Rave: Got new pants!

Rant: Got me stuck in the zipper!

  • Scuttlebutt… what’s up with the Cricket stores? They popped up everywhere quickly now the one on Barracks Row and the one at 13/Penn are closed with paper signs in the windows saying store closed. I know their parent company Leap is getting killed in the market, but Cricket was supposedly their savior. Are all of these store fronts going dark again, and is this part of the business model; ie get retail locations up on short term leases, sign as many folks as possible in a dense area then move on?

That scenario seems unlikely given the investment in signage etc, but I guess they could have plan for moving those assets to new storefronts.

    Just curious.

  • Rant: This has been the loooongest week ever, and I haven’t really accomplished anything. Too late now…

Rant: Boyfriend dropped the bomb that he’s thinking about moving back home (Maine). Been together almost three years. Damn.

    Rave: Nice weather!!! :o)

  • Rant Rant Rant – writing this while on phone, mostly on hold for 50 minutes so far with Carefirst Bluechoice after discovering health insurance was canceled because they can’t manage to sort out my automatic payment with a change of credit card and email.

Just adds to constant anger and disgust over the whole US (lack of) health care system and the f**king idiots in govt. who want to keep it that way.

Rave – spring planting tomorrow! Green peas & arugula!

Mini Rant – Kevin Wood Realtor staring at me every time I visit this site – sort of creeps me out.

Extra Crazy – Now I must kill someone Rant – the automatic voice of Carefirst just announced “Our offices are now closed, please call back on the next business day.”

Happy weekend everyone – please drive carefully – if you hit me, I have no insurance!

  • I spotted a beautiful tree near where I live and finally found out that it was a sycamore.
Good thing that happened this week – DC marriage equality!

  • Rant: work blocked flickr, so none of the pictures on PoP show up anymore 🙁

Rave: I got a lot accomplished this week! Yay!

Rave: going to the Caps game tomorrow… Starting to wonder if I’m no longer a Rangers fan, though. I grew up a Rangers fan, but I now know more of the Caps players than Rangers. And I own an Ovi shirt, and no Ranger’s gear (at least none that still fits me).

  • rave: girlfriend just got back to town after 6 looong weeks away for work.

rant: I am getting over a cold and don’t want to pass it along to her, so I might have to wait to see her.

  • Rant: I find the photo of Kevin Wood Realtor somewhat distrubing.

  • Yeah – he’s probably a good guy, posts the sales info and all, but “dynamic salesperson” type promo pictures are always creepy and this one especially – Underwood Deviled Ham!

  • Rave: The bulbs that my roommate planted all over the yard are popping up.

Rant: someone dug up all of the bulbs that she planted in the planting strip by the street. Not cool neighbors…not cool!
