Twitter Kicked Ass During the Snowstorms

I gotta say Twitter really was amazing during the storm. There was terrific info from district agencies like @DDOTDC and of course the residents of many neighborhoods around town. I just wanted to share one insane story. A reader tweeted me asking about Comcast going down this morning. Not 5 minutes later a Comcast employee tweeted back (from Philly) to both of us letting us know what was going on with Comcast. Totally wild. For the record, the reader’s Comcast is now working.

Anyone else find twitter super useful during the storms?

  • Wow yes Twitter was probably the best source of information during the storm.

  • Yea i loved twitter during the storm. I actually went over 1000 tweets because of it, and i had a blast with the all the local hashtaged twitter trends.

  • i think it was the best way to find out the latest info. A friend who had never used Twitter and had a flight leaving (or not) from Dulles during last weekend’s storm used it to find out how to get to the airport, if taxis were running or what other ways people were getting there. It really saved her day.

    I hate those Comcast twitter poeple. They creep me out. And I’d rather them have people I can talk to on the phone; it’s hard to fix a problem in 140 characters or less.

  • The Comcast people are awesome. I was having issues with Comcast for months, and within 15 minutes of one tweet about it, they responded and called me and the issue was fixed immediately.

    @Emmaleigh – take advantage of it, if you have a problem; they don’t actually try to resolve your full issue on twitter, but they will elevate to someone within comcast who can actually fix the issue.

    During the storm twitter was invaluable. I honestly don’t know how people knew what was going on with openings and closings of stores, bars, restaurants etc (plus schools, govts and the like) without it.

  • Twitter got my office lunch today. @SweetflowMobile was awesome and responsive!
